I don't care for homosexuality. If someone is gay than they are gay. No big deal, its just a aspect of them and should not be a defining trait. Anyone that treats Homosexuality as a defining trait is being stupid. That goes for people who discriminate against them (the bashers) and those who go out of their way to Preform the Homosexual image (the overly flamboyant type). I particularly hate people who PERFORM their sexuality (gay or straight)as they only serve to make things worse.

I don't feel I need to support or fight against something that has no true effect on me
Just the same as I couldn't care less which girls my friends have boned this week, neither could I care if any boned guys. I personally have become aware by reading a few studies that all humans are technically Bisexual, but in various degrees.

Because of this, I choose women, it's just my preference, I'm not sure if I'd enjoy sleeping with a man, but either way, I'm not curious enough to partake. Therefore, whether anyone I know is Gay or Straight, makes no difference to me. As politics has no business in people's love lives, I will not do the same.

I find that I am indifferent to homosexuality but at times I find myself supporting it. Who am I or better yet who are we to say how a person should live. Even with me being a christian I can't say that I don't have anything against it. The world is changing and in 10 years no one will even make a big deal about someones sexual preference. Take for example 60 or 70 years ago my girlfriend and I would have been punished and probably lynched simply because I am black and she is white. Now people don't even look twice if they see interracial couples.... at least in California that is. I'm not to sure on the south states, could someone let me know.

The question is simple. Don't forget to add WHY you feel the way you do.

For my own vote, I'm a strong supporter of homosexuality, though I'm by no means gay myself. I firmly believe that, as long as it's not hurting anyone else, people should be able to live their lives however they damn well please. This includes being able to love and marry whomever they please.

So, escapists, How do YOU feel? And remember, tell us why you feel that way.

EDIT: Just so people will stop spouting it off, I realize that this is rather poorly phrased. I think most of you can glean my meaning though, without needing to point out that I could have worded this differently.
This again?

There is no question, there is no debate. You can't be against homosexuality any more than you can be against gravity. It exists - get over it.

Well not against it & not for it. I don't know any gay people, but if I did, I seriously doubt they would bother me or anything. I'm not a hateful kind of person.

Another month, another homosexuality poll! It really baffles me why it's such a fascinatng subject for some people. Ah well, each to their own.

Anyway, on topic, I'm completely indifferent to it, if someone felt the urge to sleep with, live with or marry someone of the same sex then they can just go nuts. As long as they're both happy and no-one is getting hurt then more power to them.

I believe that homosexuals shouldn't be discriminated against, by either the government or other people. Other than that, I don't really care much about homosexuality, or any sexuality for that matter. Finding out that somebody is gay or bisexual has never altered my opinion about them, as it seems largely irrelevant to the kind of person they are.

I don't really give a fuck about homosexuality, in all honesty. I am 100% completely ambivalent about the subject.

I abhor the idiots blocking the legalization of gay marriage and the like, just as I hate the idiots who have "gay pride" parades.

For the first, they are denying a basic right to people for something completely beyond their control. That is more than a bit ridiculous, and anyone who promotes such beliefs needs to be shot.

For the latter, I get it. You're gay. Congratulations on a completely random event that you played no part in influencing or deciding. There's literally no reason to be proud that you're gay, just like there's no reason to be proud that you're straight. It's all just an accident of birth (with the possible influence of your upbringing). There's nothing to be proud of there.

The only way we'll get equality is if we stop treating our differences as worthy of mention. Ignore them completely, and the problem will be solved.

Not that I disagree with what you're saying (nor am I religious), but that phrase isn't attributable to the bible. You know, just FYI. (EDIT:I was wrong about this. My bad.)

OT: The issue of sexuality- or more specifically, the acceptance of its variances- confuses me.

This isn't something you really can support or oppose: we're not talking about a sports team here, or some sort of philosophy or ideology. We're talking about a human trait that some have argued is as unchangeable as skin color.

Fact: Homosexual people exist.
Fact: You're not going to be able to 'make' them go away.
Fact: Aside from what they find sexually arousing, they are no different than everyone else.
Fact: if you can't handle even the existence of someone with different sexual preferences than yours, you have much larger issues (and probably plenty of other irrational prejudices).

Bottom line: if you have an issue with homosexuality, the issue is yours, not the homosexuals.

So... why are we even discussing this again?

You do realize that those of us who disapprove of homosexuality out of simple hatred can't say that we do without being bandhammer'd?

So, the only people who can explain their vote are those who are indifferent or supportive. This poll shoots itself in the foot.
This is pretty much true, one side is silenced while the other side can talk freely which is kinda sad.

And for some real comedy:

Everyone who says they're against homosexuality because it says so in teh biblez are a bunch of flaming hypocrites.

Why aren't you selling your daughters? Or beating your slaves to within an inch of their life with a rod? Or doing nothing, including lighting a fire, on Sunday?

Oh right, because you only literally follow the bible when it doesn't inconvenience you too terribly to do so.

It's absurd that you can point out a flaming fuckton of quotes from the bible and get the response of "this is open to interpretation" or "this isn't meant to be taken literally", but once you get to the gay part it MUST BE TAKEN LITERALLY.

Like the story of Noah's Ark. Oh, so that's just a nice story not meant to literally mean every single animal on the entire planet. But the gay part? Totally literal. Talking snake? Metaphor.

I understand that it's difficult to look past dogma, but can't you wrap your mind around the fact that the exact same arguments were used to justify slavery and women not having equal rights? Is it truly God's One Word that he loves everybody but the gays?

And this is why I cannot fathom taking religion seriously. Because everyone can't seem to agree on what version of God they like the most. But they can agree that God would never allow a gay man into heaven for being gay.

Think about it. A gay man, let's say he's a kind man that ends up finding the cure for diabetes. He donates all of the money he earns and lives in poverty, just so he can help as many people as possible. He prays to God regularly and accepted Jesus. But because he has a boyfriend, God's gonna turn him away?

Yeah, I'll pass on that. As I said in the "what will hell be like" thread, I think hell's gonna kick ass. And be fabulous, given how many gay men and women will be prancing about. Have fun in boring old communion heaven with country music and Jerry Falwell, I'll be enjoying some death metal with my friends xP
Thank you! I'm actually considering to print this post and put up on the wall in my room.

You gave me a great idea for a post: "Quotes from the bible" where you can post all of the good stuff that you have to accept in order to use religion as a reason to be against homosexuality. I'd have to go to the local library though, cause I would never bring something like the bible in to my house!

No I don't support it, nor am I against it. So, yeah, I'm the third option but not because I don't care, it's because the way this was worded seemed a little silly to me.

Homosexuality isn't a policy, an idea or product, it's just something you're born with. So, really, I just don't get how you can be "for" or "against" it in any way because it's not like it's a choice and it's not like it's something you have to get behind for it to continue. Even if you somehow voted against it (if that's even possible), it's not going away because it's just part of how things happen in fetal development.

If I may indulge in reductio ad absurdum for a moment, this is pretty much like asking if someone is "for" or "against" people with blond hair.

It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever because it's just something that a particular person was born with. Sure they could dye their hair a different colour and pretend that they weren't blond but do you really think you have the right to tell every blond person in the world that they have to dye their hair just because you just happen to think that the dominant gene of brunet hair is more attractive, or that you subscribe to the hyperbole of stereotypes?

I could use a whole load of other things, like being "for" or "against" being left handed, "for" or "against" having blue eyes. Honestly, it's completely nonsensical, not to mention completely inconsequential, and the sooner people start to recognise that it's just one small part of who someone is and is NOT everything they are the sooner we'll be done with this kind of debate.

Shoot me down for being an idealist if you want, but I don't waste my time judging someone based on one particular trait, I actually take time to get a broader sense of who they are. The fact that people are prepared to dislike someone because of their sexual preference baffles me.

Don't ask a question you know the answer of. Just check forums now and then, and you'll see that the escapist is very pro homosexual rights

Ahh, there goes another bar of my health >.<
So any time a British person gets humiliated, I can go "take that British!"? Or any time a man does something stupid, it reflects upon all men? Sorry dude, but in saying that, you are exactly the same as he is.
Totally..

I know I'm being a generalising ****, but most of the christians I've met on the point of homosexuality are total twats.. I'm actually getting to the stage as to where I don't know any that are indifferent.. Most of you guys DO seem to be mindless zombies

Someone earlier in this thread said "I disasgree with homosexuality because God say so" or something similar..
Oh yeah. I'm not a Christian, though, I just always think these threads are breeding grounds of intolerance, and not just for the group that are the subject matter. Although I realise that I'm fuelling it a bit.

Personally I don't believe that it is genetic or whatever. There must be some psychological trigger to it, and when something is psychological you can never be 100% certain that is voluntary or not. I mean, in families with multiple boys, the younger boys are statistically more likely to turn out homosexual, so I very much doubt it's genetic, and frankly I wouldn't see the point in an allele which made it far less likely for the carrier to reproduce or why it's so common. However, I see no reason why homosexual thoughts or acts should be illegal because they do no harm to anyone else and people should have the choice to do these things if they want to. I am indifferent. I just don't fully believe that people have no control over it or that it is wrong.
How could it possibly be genetic?

I actually couldn't care less. I believe people should have the right to have whatever sexuality they please, that doesn't make them any less human. I am not myself homosexual, and I don't mind homosexuals as long as they do not attempt to force me into anything, and do not force themselves onto me.

The phrase isn't put that way but it is in one of the books connected with the bible (Sorry not majorly religious any more so don't know which one) but it does give details on how to beat your slaves... loosely saying that as long as they can walk within 3 days then it is fine and god doesn't care.
And in another book it says that god actively encourages us to take slaves... the full quote has been posted else were in the thread.
