Tier one for me. There's plenty of times where I have a Taylor Swift song and it's followed by a DMX song for example.

I tend to listen to anything that sounds good IMO, except dubstep and hard rock. Those are just noise.

Tier three.

Practically everything I listen to is metal (aside from the one or two electronic songs). I tend to stick to thrash metal, but I listen to a fair bit of the other sub-genres.

There are some genres I listen to when they're on the radio (mostly prog and hard rock), but when I can listen to anything I tend to just stick with metal.

I voted 1, but I'm not sure if I fit in or not.

I have a rather broad music taste in terms of what I can enjoy listening to. Classic, rock, punk, opera, comedy, rap and so on.

However despite liking all of these I rarely listen to anything except punk. I get my fix of the others every now and then, but I honestly don't listen to a variety of music.

This is a ridiculously set out question. The tiers just don't make sense. That said, Tier 1 obviously.

Tier 1/2 easily, but I'm less inclined towards rap than other things. Oh and dubstep can get tiresome.

I'd say I'm tier 3. It's not that I don't like other broad genres but I really only follow a few sub-genres of EDM. I guess I used to be Tier 4 for Happy Hardcore. I wouldn't say it's bad because I made up the small breadth with depth, I knew all the big names and followed the up and comers.

I don't like the categories so I'll just list.
Three or four metal sub-genres.
Rock
Classical
Jazz (Casual listener)
I'm not sure what category it falls under but I also like the sort of music they have in Fallout 3

Pretty solidly tier 1, there are very few genres I won't listen to. Quite a lot of artists I won't listen to, but very few genres.

Tier 1 here. I listen to all types of metal metal mainly. however I dabble with the other genres picking the few and specific songs that I like out of each of them.

I'm Tier 1. Come on, my iTunes ranges from Cannibal Corpse to NSYNC to The Beatles to Eminem.
This. In my top 25 Most Played are Arcturus, Biological Monstrosity, Tom Jones, Cardiacs, Mr. Bungle, Aurora Borealis, John Coltrane, Tool, Madeon...

Anyone who chooses not to listen to something simply because of the genre is just relegating themselves from an entirely new experience. To quote Madeon himself, "Anyone hating any genre of music simply doesn't know the context in which it was meant to be enjoyed."

Not to be a pretentious twat, but come on... there is some music a lot of you tier one folks are ignoring/not recognizing/not thinking of. Yes, I'm sure some of you are overly aware of Tutsi influenced tribal/electro-punk, but I sincerely doubt most of you do. Just disagreeing to disagree, sorry if I rustled your music feathers.

well, the last 5 songs that played on my playlist were:
1) The Highwayman -The Highwaymen
2) Dragula - Rob Zombie
3) Queen of the Night Aria - Mozart
4) Sister Golden Hair - America
5) Tunak Tunak Tun - Daler Menhdi

So that sums it up... the next 10 or so had Weird Al, more 80's, The Birthday Massacre (my fav band btw) some movie music from Pirates of the Carribean.

Pretty wide spectrum.

According to this measure, I'm tier 1, but after browsing the site to get a sense of the categories think their measurement is a bit screwed up. They seem to treat anything with Industrial or noise elements as pop/rock irrespective of instrumentation or influences.

My friends tend to joke that I'll listen to anything without guitars or pianos, and its pretty much true to one extent or another. The stuff I tend to enjoy and listen to over and over again tends to be industrial-influenced, but it's not hard to step outside of that and indeed, some of my favorite acts don't mesh with my "normal" music taste at all.

I also find I'm not as proactive about hunting down new acts in genres I like now, possibly because those genres are generally dying. So I guess maybe I'm broadening out by necessity.

I'd be a Tier 1. Go back 2 years though and I'd be Tier 2 (Classic Rock era). I've branched out alot since... well it was all the musicians of the MLP FIM community that has me listening to a wide variety of music.
Damn them making me accept new things.

There are still things I hate though. Rap, most pop music post 80's. Dubstep. Theres others, but those are the noticeable ones.

I checked Tier 1 (Classical + Comedy/Spoken + Electronic + Pop/Rock), and found out I was amongst the overwhelming majority.

We all like to claim that we're open-minded and have broad tastes, so it's no surprise that many chose Tier 1, the ideal.

I wonder, how many would check Tier 1, if an additional requirement was "You may NOT actively avoid any of the mentioned super-genres)"...
