Oh, so it's six months total then? That's not too different from how it is in the US. It's different in every state (although you do need at least a four year degree everywhere), but here in Florida, it works out to a certain number of hours of observation in your first three years, a certain number of one off classes taught by you in the Fall of your Senior year, and then the entirety of the Spring semester is an internship. Or at least that's how it works for an education degree -- there are alternate certification options for people with an existing degree.

Funny coincidence, by the way, my degree is in secondary social science ed, and I intend to use it to teach History. I even minored in History, and I'm teaching US history in my internship. I'd like to do either high school history or middle school Geography, but I'd be happy in pretty much any social science position aside from economics. I really hate economics.
Yeah same with me, I actually would prefer a junior level history class because their curriculum is so much more interesting here. The Grade 10 curriculum I am teaching right now is pretty godawful. They also have me teaching a senior philosophy class that I really am not qualified for but hey, whatever.

Edit: Oh, but because I'm doing it sped up It pretty much means that I have been working in schools since September, had a month off for summer but that is all.

Mind you education is pretty different here than the states, since we only have 5 years of high school, no middle school and a CEGEP system which is kind of a bridge between high school and University.

I'm a full time student, but I live in Denmark where the education is free and the government pays you for educating yourself so you can focus on your education. So I bring the bacon home, in vast quantities, by studying :D

For the moment, by virtue of being a poor ME student with a good academic record.

If hypotheticals are allowed, in the relatively near future I intend to be "bringing home the bacon" by way of designing/improving some of the items that modern society relies on.

I do translations and stuff.
It is quite draining because it is tough on my brains. I need to sleep...

I work in prisoner transport for a private security firm, basically moving prisoners from prisons to their court hearings and such.

It can be both interesting, boring, and quite eye opening in the gig, but it brings home satisfactory bacon. Prison life truly is a a whole different world to the one outside the high walls

Because the Dutch education system is too complicated to explain I'll just stay I'm in pre-Law school. I work as a check out lady in a supermarket. It's actually not as bad as I thought it would be when I first started, but I work with a friend I've known for a long time so that makes it easier.

Full time student for now, but I'm hoping to graduate this summer. Then it'll be career search time. I'm hoping to land work for NAVO, though I'm also looking at the USGS and Army Corps of Engineers.

I'm a doctor. I work 70-95 hours a week. There are about two days a week where I actually have time to look at this website, and I think I should probably spend my limited free time elsewhere, considering the incremental change in quality of the content, sanctioned and user-generated, of this place.

I co-own and supply meat to a food-truck that sells "Long Pig".
Some of you are confused by that, some of you are disgusted, and some of you thought that was hilarious.

I spend my time making pretty maps. Which in reality means I am an Infrastructure Planning Engineer specialising in water and sewer networks. I use software packages to simulate current network performance for water and sewer networks, and crystal ball gazing to attempt to plan future network expansions. It also involves a lot of data/excel work, some field evaluation, and stakeholder engagement etc.

The practical upshot of which is that my work computer is vastly more powerful than the computer I use for gaming. I won't lie it makes me cry some nights.

I'm a machinist in a company that makes steel cages and other oddities for construction.

So I pretty much listen to Manowar all day while bending steel to my will. The pay's not that good, but we get to slack off tons. So long as the work is done on time, right?
