I wish Harper was the one who died of cancer. That, or someone skinned him alive. Or various other horrible, vicious things. The man is stripping away our rights day by day and has been committing treason almost daily and we let him. I hate you, Canada. Step up - someone needs to kill Stephen Harper. Seriously.

Tell me more of this "stripping rights away day by day" (I'm Canadian as well and I'm not sure of what you speak of)

I hate Harper, I preferred Jacky boy, I miss Jack

Venezuela.

I utterly despise and loathe the goverment, we were a developing country, now little more than a joke.
Worst thing is that I show apathy to most news that would otherwise make somebody else lose their sleep, that news about the 7 year old killed while selling lemonade? well, after you've seen the 50th similar case in A MONTH, you tend to shrug and say "well, this is normal".

Well fuck, is not fucking normal, I fucking hate this.

American - Hate them all, doesn't matter republican or democrat they are too close to each other, anyone who thinks they are left and right are delirious and delusional.
I hear this type of thing a lot, but it's just not true. How may examples should I provide to make you change your opinion?

Democrats worry about global warming and want to move towards renewable energy. Republicans say it's a hoax. All their presidential candidates said they would eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency.

A majority of Democrats voted against the Iraq war. Almost every Republican voted for it while implying that Democrats were traitors.

Democrats believe women should control their bodies. Republicans believe government bureaucrats should control their bodies.

Democrats want to raise taxes on the rich to pay down the debt. Republicans want to cut taxes and cut programs for the poor and middle class to pay down the debt.

Democrats support a public health care system, while Republicans support a private system.

You should look at their voting records before you start using words like delirious and delusional.

Im from the us and try to stay very informed about not only the politics and situation in my own country but try and keep up with international politics as well.

I personally have a very love hate relationship, i am absolutely disgusted by the state of the us government. Congress right now is so divided by partisan politics that they cannot agree to pass a bill that allows the us government to spend money that congress already told them to spend in previous legislation. (ie the debt ceiling debate, all the debt ceiling essentially does is authorize the government to spend money that has already been authorized earlier in the budget). Also I find it incredibly depressing that you cannot listen to a single speech, by any politician republican or democrat, without hearing just a boatload of rhetoric that means absolutely nothing. Lastly it is just sad the policies that some of the politicians adopt, some of these things are so stupid you could realize they don't work as long as you have even the most basic understanding of economics.

However at the same time the only thing that makes me more disappointed than the government right now is the people. The fact that the masses can be convinced by all the rhetoric is just disappointing. Also some of the things that these people rally for (ie the tea party stuff) and then force the politicians to adopt are as i said so idiotic that anyone who actually reads a competent newspaper once a month can tell they are a bad idea. Then everyone else is so apathetic that it is people like the tea party who decide who gets to run the country.

I do not hate the government or any of the people in it because i think that everything they do is a reflection of what a part of the american populace wants and what the whole american populace allows. Thus i hate the people and personally would be just fine, and kind of love, a dictatorship because then i would know that the mindless masses would not get any of the power that they do not deserve.

Well, in order of largest to smallest:

Canada government: I don't agree with the tory's ideals or methods, but I do believe in their motives, which I gather is more than many can say.

(Yes, I voted for the NDP. Yes, I was frustrated that won more seats but they got less power than they had before. Also, RIP Jack Layton)

Alberta government: Also tories, but I like their policies more. Honestly, I'm so glad the wildrose (Albertan republicans) didn't win that they could sacrifice children to an elder god and I'd probably be okay with them.

Edmonton Government: Mayor Mandel is a pretty cool guy and he's a good governer. It's just too bad that city council doesn't let him do 90% of the things he wants to do.

I wouldn't day I outright hate the government. I'm mostly apathetic and distrustful. I don't keep up with politics at all since it's all just a circle jerk of self promotion and bureaucracy. People talk and talk but nothing ever changes. I'm from the UK too, by the way.
From the U.S. and you've basically said exactly how I feel. I don't outright hate them, but I don't like them either.

Fucking Canadian government.... Harper and his right-wing anti-egalitarian bullshit...

If it's not yet evident I'm a Canadian and I voted in the "Hate them, utterly and completely." category. Our ass-backwards first-past-the-post version of democracy got us a Conservative majority even though more than half the country voted for anything but the conservatives, so now we get to deal with Stephen Harper. As far as most of the public in this country is concerned, he cares nothing for citizens and their rights, he's more interested in "creating jobs"(bullshit, because it hasn't shown any results nor will it) and ensuring that major business can take all the money it needs from the general populace of the country.

I want the Liberals back, they kept our economic sector strong for years without fucking our rights in the ass like Harper has in only a short time in power.

Where's the "Do not trust them any more than I trust any random person I meet" option? Because that's how I feel. My government (and indeed all governments) are comprised of people. And, people are stupid, irrational, greedy, selfish, and power-hungry.

So...which option would that be?

USA.

Almost entirely corrupt, lobbied into uselessness, not representing the people whose votes supposedly direct the electoral college so much as the corporate interests which finance their campaigns.

Any time someone gets in who sees the changes that need to be made, they get libeled into submission with a huge pool of lawyers ready to refute any complaint about said libel.

In essence, we are governed by multinational corporate interests. Most policy change is for the sake of shareholders, not citizens. The state of it makes me sick... but I don't hate the government for it. One could say I hate what our culture has been molded into to keep this system of corruption afloat (so I don't necessarily blame my parents' generation for this... they've mostly just been duped. Much like my own generation).

So, uh... no option on the poll fits how I feel about this.
Seems you and I have the same conundrum.

The USA's government could use a good purge. I don't mean the "kill the opposition" fascist regime kind of purge, just a complete removal of almost everyone involved. We need to tear down the system and put up something that doesn't suck terribly.

We need most of the politicians replaced with competent, non-corrupt people. We need a way to remove money from the equation. When the cost of a campaign is in the billions, there's a serious issue of corruption. The 2010 elections cost roughly 4 billion dollars. This year, they're expected to cost over 6 billion. And this is for a worthless two-sided "us versus them" contest. The whole point of it is winning, not governing. It is pure bullshit.

I'm surprised we got this far without this popping up:

At least the government is incompetent and corrupt instead of being competent and corrupt. Then they would be really bad.

I don't hate them, but I definitively don't trust them. I honestly don't know as much as I'd like to know about my government and how it works. I'm sure there are some folks in there who want the best for everyone and others who are assholes only in it for themselves.

Buncha cunts.

Labour may not have been brilliant but they're the lesser of two evils here. I don't see the lib dems ever getting into power after Cleggy has been such a ***** boy for Cameron now.
Obviously we clearly didn't learn the last time the Tories were in power, or people are atupid enough to believe what they said they were gonna do.

I suppose I should hate them, I am young, poor and Northern. I feel like they're singling us out right now.
I feel sorry for parents too. I know a few parents who are struggling because of some of the benefits they're not receiving any more.
Also my mum and my neighbour lost their jobs because they're trying to shut down most of the care homes here. They only want 3 or 4 open in my home town. Not sure where they expect to fit the elderly people already in those homes.

Also "Budget cuts! Saving the country loads of money! Oh wait, those thousands of people who lost their job have to claim dole money now, whoops!"
They're not saving us money at all >.<

Distrust is in the lead. Does not surprise me.

There's no reason to trust them whatsoever when ya get right down to it. They need to lie to keep multiple groups happy at the same time in order to keep their jobs.

I think America has lost sight of what it should have been. Thomas Jefferson said something that just don't ring true anymore.

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

Could it be possible that all these presidential assassins were just all up to their ears in the Second Amendment?
I doubt it. The only people who have been killed are Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley and JFK. None of whom deserved to die. They were pretty good presidents all things considered. A real tyrant like Hoover was president without being shot.

Whoever supports the second amendment have lousy skills in choosing who to shoot.

I'm happier now that Francois Hollande has been elected. I"m still not entirely trusting of my government, since I"m french, but at least it's a step in the right direction. You Brits are being screwed by your government.

Just wondering. And I didn't put it in religion and politics for one thing to stop it being isolated to only those who had strong feelings about it...and because I don't want this discussion to devolve into such a pointless flame war that it becomes a convincing reason to destroy the internet.

Don't forget to say which country you live in.

I come from the UK, and I hate my government.

Obviously, they're more or less intent on abandoning my generation. Tuition fee cuts, an unemployment issue little is being done about, and, to my eyes the worst crime, the cutting of services to under-twenty year olds that, when I was that age, proved vital to me. I'd go as far to say that they saved me from my own self destruction, and now in the future, people who find themselves in that situation will have nowhere to go.

I believe you should never trust this government. Never trust any government. Anyone with that much power should never be trusted, simply because of massive damage they can cause upon betraying you. This government, however, are beyond that. They are my enemy. They make everything as difficult as possible. All three governments of my lifetime have tried to wreck me. Blair put together the academy system, which I was in the pilot scheme for because no other school would deal with my aspergers. That was hell, and it destroyed me as a person for many years after. He downright lied about the safety of that place, and I hope for the day when he pays for that, and every other crime he committed. Brown took a lagging economy and destroyed it, preventing me from getting a job. Cameron's policies look worse by the day for anyone who isn't rich, and clegg flat out betrayed the entire country for a taste of power.

People say I don't see these people as human, but why should I? They want the power of a god. They want control over us all, and then they turn around and want to be forgiven for their mistakes and crimes because they're "only human"? Fuck them. I don't expect a government to not make mistakes, but I expect them to be ready to pay for them, or at least to apologise.

Yeah, I've got a grudge, but I don't see why that makes their action any less disgusting. I don't want them dead. That'd be too good for them, and besides, on the day that they are properly brought to lawful justice, we'd finally have a truly fair country, where nobody, no matter their position, is exempt from the law.
I hate them too bro.

They waited until there was people who could vote who couldn't remember Thatcher and then they shoved Cameron in there to butter everyone up.

Hoping Labour get back in at the next election.

Australia- Well, the country hasn't dissolved into a Mad Max style hellhole yet, so they're doing something right. I keep hearing from people that the Prime Minister is a moron and such but I'm really not seeing any evidence of it...

Australia: While I passionately dislike my government and the way it has conducted itself over the years I believe it is the lesser of two evils (You're comparing Hitler to Starlin here), so yeah I'll just keep voting for the 'Sex Party' (Yes that's a real political party).

I wouldn't call her a 'moron' per say, but I don't like her, that said we have an opposition party who take that role far to literally.

Anyways, not seeing what's wrong with dual-nationality people particularly.
AnarchistFish said:
Waaaait, what's wrong with that exactly?
Essentially, Dual Nationality means that on a political level, your loyalty is divided. That doesn't seem like much, to a civilian. But looking at the picture, he/she cannot represent the people of a country if he/she's also the part of another country. His/her children may never live, study in the country whose people the politicians claim to represent. Long story shot, it means that one does not have stake in the country. So, how can one claim to represent the people?

And that! Is the big problem. Which is making us poor poor civilians even more furious. Since, right now even more politicians are being appointed who possess dual nationalities.
