I keep on seeing threads today about PETA and Vegetarians and for some reason it got me thinking about how I love my steak. So. How do you guys here like your steak. Personally I like mine Medium Rare.

EDIT: Chicago was a term I heard from a friend, I'm not sure what it would really be called but the outside is nearly burned, while the inside is well done
"Chicago" definitely doesn't mean overcooking the steak. I should know since I'm a Chicagoan. Also I love it that your mental process is PETA therefore "I like steak". Same thing happened here.

To me the perfect dish is a Ribeye served medium with a side of fries and mashed potatoes that soak up the juices so well. No steak sauce, hell no salt! Just the natural flavor of the steak should be enough. Am I right folks?
You are right

I'm so glad someone made this thread. Cheers to you!!

OT: Medium rare for me, as long as the chef knows what medium rare means. I also sometimes venture to rare.

Mhmmmmm steakie.

I love the eating of steak. I love discussion on Escapist. Why not put the two together?
Also those damned PETA threads made me put down my KFC and want steak

I like mine medium rare. Not oozing blood, but I like it extra juicy and tender. With a baked potato, some sautéd mushrooms, and a salad.
Mmmm.. now I'm hungry!

Depends on my mood and lust for the blood of the innocent... ehm.

Best: very high heat, short frying from both sides. red in the middle. It would be perfect if i get it well done outside, juicy in the middle. But for that it has to be exceptional thick.... GREAT now i am hungry... thanks...

A lovely combination indeed!

Also, the PETA threads make me want to hunt an animal down myself, and eatz the meatz like a barbarian!

Which is quite odd for me, I'm quite adamant about my table manners. Ohhhh PETA.

Around where I live there are alot of Steak houses and at a particular one (Either Saltgrass or Texas Roadhouse I forget) the steak was so good that my mother did not even need to put salt on her steak for the first time in twenty years. I think that should say enough.

knock it's horns off, wipe it's smelly ass and toss it on my plate

mostly i like medium rare, a nice pink inside, tho i will eat rare.

personally i make my steak with corn that i cover in butter, roll in minced garlic and spices, it's so good. and the bbq sauce i have is REALLY hot, make it with scotch bonnet peppers and a few other peppers, it burns for a couple seconds but goes away after that

not sure how people can like well done, the steak has no flavour by that point and is usually dry as hell

HILARIOUS XD

And i like mine medium-well done, although I've varied my tastes (almost bipolar-esque) for the past few years, matey.
