Poll: How do you pronounce buoy?

My reflex would be to pronounce it boo-oy, as in 'buoyant', but now that I think about it, isn't the correct pronounciation 'boo-ee'?

So you'd pronounce buoyant as boo-oyant? Or boo-eeant?

I'd still pronounce it as boo-oyant.

That just sounds awkward to say. It probably just seems weird to me though, since I've always pronounced it boyant.

Well, like I've said, I've never pronounced the word out loud. Haven't really had any need to use it ever, so I have no guarantee that the way I imagine it's pronounced is the right one.

I say boy. The only way I've ever heard it pronounced. Just tried saying boo-e and it just sounds ridiculous.

In American english, it's pronounced Boo-ee. In British english, it's pronounced Boy.

I guess you could say it's more like 'boyant', but I like to acknowledge the 'u' by saying it more like 'bwoyant'.

I honestly wouldn't really know though, seeing how I've never said the word out loud.

Boy, I'm English. We actually speak the English language how it should be spoken.

This, I have only ever heard it being pronounced differently on American shows and songs, anywhere that speaks English *properly* pronounces it boy.
