It's inconsequential and I know it. However, if someone insists in zed being proper, I do have this to say: You pronounce the h in Herb. I don't, but I admit that fair is fair, your way makes more sense. "erb" sounds proper to me but I can admit that that is because of my cultural immersion. But while you need a vowel sound to make the letter z into a proper sounding word, the letter D has absolutely no place in there. It is irrational. Zed sounds silly, ruins the rhyming scheme, and does not clarify anything. It is dead weight. It doesn't matter enough to make a case for, but if you must make a case for Zed, I must point out that its a bad case to make.

I chose other.

I pronounce it "Zarnifablargabergensire"

Take that established order!

EDIT: Holy mother of balls... This is by FAR the biggest flame war I have seen on the Escapist. And it's all over the final letter in the alphabet. Wow. Just..... Wow.

I pronounce it "tsed" because I'm German.

But when I speak English, I pronounce it "zed" because that's the way I learnt it. We learn English in school, not some weird dialect version of it.

I'm an Australian who pronounces it 'Zee'.

'Zed' sounds silly, and doesn't rhyme in the alphabet song. For these reasons, I dislike it.
Thank God someone else said it.

I'm an American, and I pronounce it "zee" for the reasons above.

It's pronounced "zee," the only time I've heard it pronounced "zed" is in the French alphabet. (I'm pretty sure it's the French one, at least)

I pronounce it "zed" - the way the entire english-speaking world other than America pronounce it.

It's like the way people write the date or missing out 'U' in words. Just say -Zed- people.

I am from the US, so I pronounce it "zee". They are both right, however. One is NOT better than the other. It all has to do with where you were brought up.

I thought I had to pronounce the letter "z" without actually using the letter "z". Thank goodness. My brain would have fried.

OT: I personally pronounce it "zee" here in the USA. I've never heard anyone prononce it any other way up until now.

Despite living my whole life in Canada, I pronounce it "zee" because it rolls off of the tongue far better than "zed". The "d" sound at the end of "zed" makes it sound extremely awkward.

Zed, unless it?s part of a name or title where the person who thought it up probably intended it to be pronounce zee. For example ?dragon ball zed? sounds kind of stupid. I live in New Zealand
