It can either be pronounced /ˈzɛbɹə/ or /ˈziːbɹə/ according to the dictionary (both uk and us pronunciation are perfectly valid)
(I pronounce it zee-brah)

I'm British and I too pronounce it "Zeh-bra". It probably comes from how we pronounce the letter Z in the first place. In Britain it's pronounced Z'ed while in the States it's Z'ee. Like Jay Z.
Funny thing, despite I say Zebra as Zee, when it come to the letter Z alone I do say is as "Zed" (well most of the time as there has been a couple of time I did say Z as "zee").

I use Zee-bra. It's always been Zee-bra since I was a little one.
You were a little zebra? o_O

Zeh-bra because it's close to Spanish cebra.
The mention of Spanish reminds me, it is also enjoyable to pronounce it "Theh-Bra" and roll the Rs like I'm doing a motorcycle impression. It's really useful for making people go away; nine out of every ten never return.

I thought you were more of a UK-phile.

I am! :) But some words are harder to pronounce in the British way for me.
Dammit Janet we're Spanish speakers! UK Zeh-bra and Spanish ce-bra sound practically the same!

I know! But it sounds so foreign to me to pronounce it like that in English (facepalm)

It's a fucking HORSE.

(Sorry, I had to break the to-may-to/to-mah-to spell there for a second. We now return you to the black-white debate, already in progress.)

Normally, I pronounce it as "ZEE-bruh". Though, I know a few Brits who pronounce it as "ZEH-bruh".

However, sometimes, just to mess with people, I'll pronounce it as "ZED-bruh".

Always gets "the look".

No no, we're not using the Zed word here. Shaun said so.

"Zeh-bra".

Coz oi'm Osstrayleeuuhn.

I am however sufficiently familiar with the barbaric American pronunciation of "zee-brah" that it doesn't sound particularly strange to me.

Yeah, well, that bastard owes me two quid that were used to buy a cornetto.

As such, until he pays me back, he can fuck right off.

I'm an American that uses both, because I switch dialects with reckless abandon! 8D I gotta admit though, whenever I hear the British pronunciation, I can't help but think about Yahtzee's Hai-laareous South-Afriiikan accent.

From the US here, and I use Zee-bra. Never knew people pronounced it differently until now.

Looks like I learned something new today! :D

"Din-ner"

Because this is one of those words I never liked saying for some reason... (It's like saying the planet "Uranus" as if you're talking about your butt...) Plus, it a word that NEVER comes up in any of the conversations I'm in... (same goes for "Uranus"...)

As an American, I find my thought process both baffling and lacking emotion... (yet, I'm still find it #1 for some reason...) And, overall, I think it's more of a dialect thing somehow... (Don't quote me on that...)

I'm Canadian and I say "zee-bra". Not sure if it's the common pronunciation here. Canadian English pronunciation is messed up and I'm sure whatever the norm is, tons of people will do it the other way. And since Canada has pretty much no media of its own, we're pretty much always watching foreign stuff, so... yeah. Zeeeeeeeebra. I still pronounce Z as Zed, though, most people here do, somewhat out of spite to the Americans, I think.

I didn't even know it could be pronounced Zeh-bra. I vaguely remember watching nature shows as a kid (Nature or National Geographic) about Africa with even a British-accented narrator calling them Zee-bras. Odd.
