But Seriously,

With the two lines, I'm not some cretin who can only afford the ink for a single line when writing 'i'
It annoys me reading work from others because I always read the single-lined I as an L; frustrating I can tell you.
This is how I feel.

Like this: "Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye!"

I kid. My letter-writing goes both ways.

ok im confused as to why the hell this thread is here? Why do people have to be so random as to ask how people spell letters or words or even pronounce them...

but ok i spell a capital i like this...I see, it works.

Depends on my levels of apathy and general can't-be-arsed-ness.

Sometimes I'll write it with the serifs, other times like a lower case L.

I use serifs. On another note though, I don't use a single horizontal line for a lower case l. My lower case l's end up being like an upper case one, only smaller (both overall and the parallel line) and more rounded.

I usually have the lines on the top and bottom, because that differentiates I from |, the later being used to symbolize a "one". Oh boy, I just had a new thread idea. I'll call it "How do you write a "One"". Ah, never mind, maybe I'll just jack this topic.

EDIT: I won't actually attempt to steal this topic, but it is also an interesting question.

Adding the serifs would just slow me down or make me write less neatly, so little L it is

Just the vertical line. Of course, that's also how I write the number 1 - so when I have to write out a formula (as is common in science, for example in physics "I" stands for electrical charge) I'll use serifs to avoid confusing myself.
