Mario Party and that aforementioned Banjo-Tooie sequence have made me godlike at the mashing of buttons.

I'm good at both styles, the straight-up mash and the alternation. Someone on this site taught me a technique, and I've used it ever since - thumb your index finger, tap directly down with the tip of your index. I'm probably not explaining it correctly - hell, I don't even know if I'm doing it right - but I use it.

I'm a little out of practice though, I only do it out of interest - never really play games where I need to mash.
I do the exact same thing, and it gets me around 105 presses in 7 seconds.

A better explanation is to vibrate your index finger on the button, i learned this from my father's friends.

My thumb bends in such a way that makes mashig a button easy . I think it is because o used to play nes games when i was young . Basically my thumb joig bends backwards as well as forwards . So i just mash with the bone from my thumb joint , if you understand what i mean .
At last, another like myself! None of my friends that I see playing video games seem capable of bending back their thumb, so they all seem to have much more difficulty with mashing sections than me.

I've also started just holding my thumb straight, and using the same motion (assuming you're using your hand muscles to pull your thumb into the button).

Fucking Mario Party, man. That shit does things to you. It does things you don't come back from. You haven't seen what I've seen, man.

Anyway, yeah, I have a lot of practice, so I'm not too bad with it. [sub][sub][sub][sub]Goddamn minecart racing won't get out of my head[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]
Mario Party's analog stick-based mini games tore the flesh from people's hands. That game is hard-fucking-core.

i use a pen
because my arm gets tired very easily i adopted this to beat peace walker, just grab a pen(that ideally is made of something softer than the button and keep running it over the button, faster than pressing it and my arm doesn't get tired as fast.

the only thing faster than my button mashing, is light ;)

honestly though, my friends hate playing against me in anything that is speed related as such. honestly i can't tell if the two finger or my one muscle spasm finger is faster.

i find it quite interesting/funny how many people use their jaw/chin, and how you even came across that.

button masher game that actually lets you prep up before starting, have at it!
I got 79 on that. Is that good or bad?

I'm a straight masher. Never could get the hang of alternating at any sort of good speed.

Well I got 71 so it's probably not that bad. I also went fast and beat that pony game.

Isn't button mashing a method itself?

I generally press my thumb down flat and rotate it in clockwise circular motions around the clustered right hand buttons.

i would say average to above average? definitely way faster than a non gamer (more than likely)

I got 99 on my first try, but then again as i pointed out, my friends hate playing me in button masher speed races :)

I put my thumb and pointer finger together and slide them back and forth over the button as fast as I can. It works rather well.

I've found myself almost instinctively crossing my index and middle fingers. The index finger does the pressing, while the middle finger presses down on it and keeps it steady. Hurts like all hell, but it's vanquished every button-mashing challenge to come my way, well except for washing Gracie's car on Animal Crossing.

I used to be really good at it when I was a kid. Later on, I couldn't even manage that button mashing mission against the dinosaur thing in Star Fox Adventures.

I consider myself to be pretty good, but I have a problem where my finger stiffens up after a minute or so. I get real close to the mouse or pull the controller closer and hold it tight with one hand while my right index finger goes to town.

I mostly use my thumb for mashing more than one button at a time, otherwise, I'll use my index finger if its not too much trouble.
