talkity talk

Yeah I meant to post on a another thread. But, while I'm hear I'll say I am very sick of all these Skyrim threads. It seems like I am the only person on this not interested in it.

I've played Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion. The only one of these that I don't enjoy is Arena; I got Oblivion first, after completing that about 5 times got Morrowind, did much the same and got Arena off of Bethesda's site, and semi-recently got Daggerfall off their site as well. While I've now played Oblivion too much to still enjoy it, I still play Morrowind and Daggerfall.

Nehrim: At Fate's Edge is a game created with Oblivion's resources, and is absolutely amazing, I've also been playing through that recently. I think I'm only tired of Oblivion's story and setting, as Nehrim is otherwise similar, it nonetheless still feels fun.

While the combat of TES is generally mediocre, its stealth much the same, and its magic customisable but unfortunately bland since spells were cut for Oblivion, the feeling of adventure is omnipresent, and all of the games were graphically advanced for their times, especially Morrowind and Oblivion. Skyrim's graphics don't seem like a giant leap foward, but its gameplay looks excellent and its world as interesting as Morrowind.

Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion. I also think each one is better then the last in terms of gameplay but I also want to avoid a flame war so the less said the better.

I bought the Oblivion GOTY Edition during the steam summer sale for $8. I haven't played the hell out of it like some have, but I have about 30 hours played and I liked it a lot, but for some reason I stopped playing it, probably because I have so many other unfinished games that I'm trying to play and none of them ever end up getting beaten. lol. Also, TF2 was an oblivion killer for me. It going free has made me sink over 100 hours into it since July.

I've never played a Oblivion game, but I can say the same with the Fallout Series, (Fallout 3 was the first I ever played) The more I heard about the game the more I wanted to try it out and even go back and check out the older games.

I spent countless hours on Morrowind, but not so many on Oblivion.
I tried Oblivion at a friends house when it first got released, and I gotta say it disappointed me.

Still very much excited for Skyrim though, I've even taken 3 days off work to play it.

I am currently playing Oblivion.

Playing a Nord in heavy armour with no fast-travel to prepare for Skyrim. Going off topic a bit this has been my first no fast-travel and I've got to say - Why the hell did no one tell me how awesome it was this way ?! I've discovered a lot more than when I always used fast-travel (e.g. Quest with the Deep One atronach, quest to recover the dead wife's jade amulet etc.) it's just so much more fun.

EDIT: Oh yeah I forgot I've played Morrowind quite a bit too and I'm trying to find someone with Daggerfall

Played it. Hated it. It was a bad game in my personal opinion. It sucked in every aspect a game can suck (mechanics, visuals, atmosphere, game world, plot, characters, gameplay, sound, etc.). I tried playing it half a dozen times and failed to stick with it because I was simultaneously bored and annoyed. A month ago, I took it up again and proceeded to mod the SHIT out of it. I replaced the interface, the graphics, the ass-backwards retarded mechanics, the combat... And I barely made it adequate. I got through the game and most of the major sidequests, but only by replacing huge chunks of the game with better stuff. That people made for free in their spare time. Oblivion was the low point of the series and IMO only got the praise and adoration it did because it was in the right place at the right time, to expose the growing population of newborn console gamers to an open world western RPG. (again, these are just my opinions)

I also played Arena, Daggerfall and Morrowind and loved them. Loved Fallout 3 too, which is the main reason I'm looking forward to Skyrim - Beth seems to have learned their lessons and got back on track.

I played it - it was okay. Same for Morrowind. I am hyped for Skyrim because it looks like they fixed most of the horrible, horrible technical problems with those game, created an interesting Elder Scrolls world for once, and most of all, because Fallout 3 was magnificent.

This.
I love Fallout 3 to death though, and I like fantasy, so I'm hoping Skyrim will be more or less like FO3 but in a fantasy setting. -Shrug-
Wait.. You love Fallout 3 to death but you think Oblivion is truly awful? This confuses me. Care to elaborate a little on why you think Oblivion is so awful?

I will admit that I've never played Oblivion, but I'm hyped for Skyrim.
I guess after The Elder Scrolls throws in gorgeous graphics, dragons, vikings and lizard-men it finally got my attention.

When I got hyped for Skyrim a few months back, I did take a look at Oblivion to see if it would help fill the time. Unfortunately what I saw of Oblivion was clunky combat and a boring landscape.

I decided to give it a miss, if only because Skyrim looks like a massive improvement.

I've played all of the previous games to some degree, (only counting the numbered titles) Oblivion was the only one I played for a significant amount of time, beyond a few hours. Anyway I am extremely excited for Skyrim, I've figured my character out and can't wait to create him and get immersed in this world!

The leveling system made sense, it was a lot easier to get into FO3 for me, I liked the characters a lot more, the conversation options were easier to understand and the setting was more interesting to me.

I couldn't get into Oblivion. I hated all the characters and I just felt like I was faffing about, I didn't see any appealing goals to reach, it was just like "lol, the king died, you escaped the cell, get on with it".
It's all subjective though.

I've never played any Elder Scrolls games but I'm buying in to the hype for this one. I've been watching lots of in-game videos and such, so have established that Skyrim very much appeals to me.
