Somewhere between average and above average.
There is no inbetween. As soon as you pass average, you are either above or below average (obviously dependant on which way you pass it).

Well let's take a look at the most downloaded list on iTunes, shall we? 2 songs are by someone who has a name with a dollar sign instead of an S, one of them has lyrics consisting solely of "I've got a feeling tonight's gonna be a good night," and one of them is called BedRock and I'm pretty sure it's not about the Flintstones.

I'm no genius and my grades show that, but I'm certainly not an idiot.
You seem to be correlating musical taste with intelligence. The whole 'my opinion is better than yours' thing is a slippery slope.

OT: I'm going to put myself down as average, simply because most of the people that I know are more or less as intelligent as myself

I would call myself a genius, but even I have my flaws. But I consider myself more logical and observant than most people.

interesting thread...
I wouldn't say I'm really smart or anything like that. I can be pretty stupid at times. but I did make it to university so that's got to count for something and I often think other people are being stupid or dealing with things like they're rocket science while I think it's easy... so maybe I'm above average. But I also do stupid things like spend too much money and postpone work I know I have to finish and stay up too late while I know I have to get up early the next morning...
also, I can't ever seem to decide on things... and I'm not sure if that's an indication of intelligence or not...
Do you think it is?

I'm quite smart, usually scoring high on exams. Although despite my intelligence I'm a very lazy person, so it rarely shows.

Smart enough to realise that telling people how smart you are proves that you aren't.

Ahh crap.

I'm knowledgeable, and intelligent enough to know that knowledge is nothing without the ability to apply it.

I'm a genios compared to the people in my grade, and even the grades above. Not only do the teachers call me a genios but my peers do and i know it.
You can't be that much of a genius if you weren't able to spell the word 'genius' even when it's been written above.
Troll or Irony: You decide!

Anyway, back on topic, I couldn't decide between slightly and significantly more intelligent than others. I can only judge what the 'average' intelligence is from what I see and people are either as smart as me or blithering idiots (at least in the area I live in) so I didn't really make a call.
Okay ill admit it, my spelling is terrable, but im still extreamly smart for my age.

Like most people perceive themselves. Above the 'norm' but not part of the 'elite'.

It's really too vague. People tend to show different expertise in different ways. "Smart" has so many different meanings.

That's why there's IQ and EQ. The second measures emotional intelligence. The most true stereotype of nerds are people who are intellectually VERY smart, but emotionally retarded. Give them some advanced intellect stuff, and they're smart. Put them in a situation with people and they're retarded. (Exaggerations may apply).

Some people are excellent in concrete details, others are excellent in abstract measures. Both can be smart, but it's going to be a very different kind of smart. I know that when it comes to details and the nitty-gritty of stuff, I'm not very knowledgeable, even not very rational, but I'm much better at thinking outside the box and understanding abstract ideas. Depending on what the situations calls for, I'll have a different influence.

What kind of smart are you looking for?

I consider myself to be a Genius compared to most of the people I meet, but then again, I do often meet bumbling imbeciles. (This does not make me above making the occasional pillow fort)

I'm a retard. Gleeeeeeee! Then again, I have pretty smart fiends and a quite intelligent girlfriend(damn her!) so that sets my standard pretty high. My best friend and I like to joke that he put all his points into Intelligence and Stamina, and I into Charisma and Dexterity.

I heard somewhere a research showed 80% of the people interviewed thought their intelligence was 'above average'. XD
but I suppose that makes sense in a way, doesn't being stupid involve not knowing you are?

From what I've gathered on the results, a lot of people have have slightly inflated opinions their own abilities.

I listed myself as slightly as I have a better grasp of a number of things than most people. I measure in application of knowledge, because having an encyclopedic knowledge of any subject without the ability to use that raw data is useless.

I don't like the jump in the polls from slightly to significantly. There should be a moderately in between because the gap between slightly and significantly is too large.
