Hard to say since I'm quite tan looking for a Chinese guy. Well ok no tan lines despite that I have been going and leaving work with just wearing my work polo shirt.

I'm mildly tanned and I'm in Australia, but I'm a gardener so I'm outside a lot.
People still have gardeners outside of soap operas?

Or is this one of those things where two similar words have different connotations in American English.

**sigh** Where was this thread last year, when I could have voted the naked sun-bathing option?

This year? Pregnancy makes getting sun difficult. Having a newborn, moreso.

I've been getting some sun lately, I guess, so maybe faint, faint tan-lines? Kinda? I guess?

I am ginger. As a result I always wear long sleeved shirts and whatnot. Even so, my nose ends up burned. This is despite living in the UK, and up north to boot.

I just burn. I always burn. I grew up in a desert, I spent 9 years burnt and every 6 months since having checkups on various moles thanks to spending 9 years burnt.

Man, I hate being ginger sometimes.

My head, neck, and lower arms are tanned. That's it. Everything else is pale.

Considering that my hometown have had about 1 week with sun, in total, this summer, being pale as a ghost is not a suprise. The fact that I've always been pale as a ghost, no matter what, may come a bit more as a suprise... Unless you already knew that I'm a cave-dweller who never goes outside ^^

My skin is either white as the driven snow or crimson red. I've never had a tan in my life.
Pretty much this. I am pretty much NEON white, and I don't go outside with the purpose of tanning, because I don't tan: I burn to a crisp like a fucking vampire. At that point, you can salt me, maybe add some ketchup, and I'm done.

Honestly though, I'm not sure I WANT to really tan, since my wire-frame figure and my nerdy-ass face probably wouldn't pull off a tan well at all.

I tend to only go out when it is dark, overcast, or in the middle of a storm, thunder or otherwise.
I can't stand hot/sunny weather.
As such, I'm rather pale. Not the palest person I've ever seen, but still rather pale, no tan.

My arms has a quite clear line on them, and I assume my face as well.
Have been out in the sun more than usual, but I'm not exactly the sunbathing type.

I don't tan.

I can't, I only burn.
I often blame this on being related to ginger people.

Plus I hate summer (mostly cause of the burning!) and tend to stay inside.
So yeah, I'm either pale as a ghost in winter or red and blotchy in summer if I venture outside.

I am a ginger so I don't tan I am very pale. When I go out in the sun I start to burn after a few min. I remember one time someone tried to tell me everyone can tan I couldn't help but laugh.

I have a light tan left over from my vacation- which means I've got the awkward bikini top tan line around my neck. But even when I am at my tannest, I tend to make Casper the friendly ghost look tan. The trials of being a ginger.

i'm a red haired Scottish person so i'm actually pale blue rather than white and the sun is pretty much a major health hazard...

The lack of a ginger option confuses and infuriates us!

Agreed! The lack of a ginger option shows that the original poster is a racist!

I could lay...lie...ligge....I HATE THAT VERB SO MUCH!
I could lay(?) in the snow and I would be impossible to find.

PS: ligge is the Norwegian verb for whatever verb I'm trying to use.

I'm so pale that sometimes people ask me if I'm sick.
And I get out in the sun quite often.

Scottish, Irish, German, and Norwegian. What do you think? I actually don't tan, I turn red for a few days (not sun burnt as I don't get any pain, just red) and then go back to white. On the upside, I have an alcohol tolerance on par with Dionysus though I rarely drink (mainly due to the prohibitive costs of doing so).

Very pale. Though that's due in part to the fact I have vitiligo and so my body hates tans so much my immune system is ruthlessly and systematically destroying all the pigment in my skin. By middle age I'll probably be entirely albino white.
