No, because everyone here is either blissfully ignorant of how real statistics are done or they just dont care and add really inane options to the poll. So in the context of this forum, they are really rather useless. Any other context they have potential to provide a good degree of quality information.

I feel that in orders for polls (on this site especially) to be effective, the choices should be relevant to the topic being discussed.
With "Unsure" or "Other (Please Explain)" being the exceptions, polls with BS third choices like "Cake!" or "I like clicking on carets!" should be excluded outright.
Are polls useful? Yes, if the creator cuts out the BS.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that it amuses me when someone types "Poll: Poll:..."

Anyway, if the people who made the poll think it is serious, and the people participating are serious, then I see no reason why not.

Polls that have jokes in them make the poll useless. How are you going to get a serious answer from some one when you leave them the option to be a smartass? :p
We reserve the inalienable right to be smartasses!

I enjoy polls that have proper spelling.
I enjoy polls that have hilarious typos, so that makes us even.
