Poll: How's your self esteem?

It's bulletproof but not very high.

By which I mean it's not wrapped up in what others think of me, which has its ups and downs (insults don't phase me but compliments don't bolster it) but while saying that, after 4 years of rejection from potential employers has left it kind of low.

It's one thing to be called a name or two but 4 years of "you're just not good enough" takes its toll.

Still, I just got an apprenticeship, so for the next year I'm golden.

I picked "I'd marry myself," not because I think I'm better, but because I really like the person I am. I enjoy being me, they way I am and the way I act. I know I have lots of issues and fears, and I often hate the things I do when I look back on them, but nevertheless I really like being me. I'm not better than anyone else, but I really like the person I am because that's the sort of person I am. If that makes sense.

I feel my self-esteem is perfect because I hesitate to refer to myself as an idiot or some other pejorative, but I also shy away from describing myself as a genius or awesome or giving myself praise. I know who I am and can't really bring myself to think any other way.

Yes, there are some bad things I look back on.
But it is not about the person you were years ago.
It is about the person you are today.
The one that you're being.
As long as my true colors are flowing, I'm happy.
I'd rather be hated for being myself, than loved for who I wasn't.

Like you, I've lost quite a bit of weight and have had sex recently so my self esteem's been pretty high. I walk around more now and feel more confident. But occasionally I catch my own reflection and I still feel pretty fucking bad. It comes and goes.Self esteem... Y U KNOW CONSISTENT?!?

I would have to vote "I Hate Myself." because I do, I hate my life, I hate that I'm an unrelenting failure who just gets worse as I go.
I hate that my entire life revolves around a dead end job working as a gas station attendant at minimum wage.
I hate the fact that my job allows me no agency and puts me in the position where if I'm not positively beaming at everyone all the time and being extra helpful all the time I may be replaced by just about anyone with a functioning body, and end up fucking homeless again.
I hate the fact that even when I was in good shape and confident and shit, I ended up getting herpes and now every woman I date ends up leaving me because of it, and as such I haven't felt the touch of a woman since I contracted it.
I hate the fact that I live a life completely devoid of love, and haven't had so much as a hug in going on a year.
I hate the fact that I live in a little room that's so full of mold that my lungs burn constantly, and I always feel terrible in the morning, and have a hard time getting to sleep.
I hate the fact that every decision I make ends up fucking me over in the long run.
I hate that I have to continuously remind myself of my debts in order to keep myself from just stepping out in front of a speeding truck or car or van, as I walk to and from work every fucking day.

And when it comes down to it, I also hate myself for a lot of the shit I've done over the years just to stay alive.

I probably won't end my life, because I don't want to leave a legacy of debt, and screw the few people who've helped me out over, as it'd be unfitting of me, even being the scum I am, I still have my honour.

But that is ok. Although self-loathing is as arrogant as self-love, with a healthy helping of self-loathing I will be able to avoid making the same choices that have made me so depressed in the first place.

Our government has been capitalistic for quite some time, with a monkey as prime minister who actively ruins our country and tries to be so PC it's embarassing. There's not much work here either.

Also got a feeling our immigrant hostile(not sure about the English word, but basically our hillbilly rasists) parties will get a much bigger seat, than they already have, in our government in 2014.

Judging from the poll's multiple choices I think OP misunderstands what self esteem is. I have very high self esteem but I don't think I'm better than anyone. More confident maybe, happier for sure, but I don't think I'm better than less confident, unhappier people. The question you have actually asked is how arrogant are you.

I don't think I'm all that bad. I can cook pretty well, I play a variety of instruments, I'm reasonably intelligent (at university to improve that further though!) and I at least think people like being around me. That being said, I got some depression issues and other neuroses that are the result from being stabbed in the back too many times so there's always that kind of thought.

So the middle one I guess.

there's much to be done, BUT! i got the show on the road a few weeks ago, and it's been more or less an uphill ride so far (with the usual stumble here and there)

so yeah, could be worse. friends even said i seem more content, even happier. more relaxed.
and i didn't go along with the usual "nah, i'm not, same old, same old; i'm always great anyway, so now leave me the f**k alone!!" but said "you know what? you're right!"
