I thought it was pretty good, and Mike Patton doing the voice of the creatures was always a nice bonus. But it's hard to give it more than a 3 since I've only watched it once and haven't felt like revisiting it. It has its moments but isn't worth buying.

I liked the film, but the original book is so much better.
or even the original film of the book, which is a lot closer to the book.
if you're interested, look for 'Omega Man'.

the movie is at best average
they strapped out everything from the story of the original book
they even managed to change the meaning of the title to the completly opposite

so the movie is ok to watch but its not a masterpiece wich it could have been

If you have a 360, it's available on the XBL video marketplace.
Only place I've ever seen it. and even then, I never got to watch the whole film due to events beyond my control...

Pretty much your standard "book was better" response. In comparison to the novel, the film was terrible. In its own right, it was average. Watchable but easily forgotten.

Pretty much anyone who's read the book hates the film. What they did to Neville and his final stand is downright atrocious.
Exactly. So far, not one person in the thread prefers the film. Even those who've only read a synopsis of the book have agreed.

I think it's the best movie of 2007. I really hate when people say they didn't like it because of C.G.I.

Nice spoiler warning.

And I'm not going to rate it, but I do think the film was at its best when showing the day-to-day life and survival of Smith's character in the deserted New York. I also found the enemies terrifying before they were exposed, but just laughable afterwards.
Agreed - I could of just watched the film length on how he survived, although I suppose there wouldn't of been much to do for the ending except end it.

And you're right, as soon as you see the enemies there's nothing scary about them - they're too human. When he's in the building constantly flicking his flashlight on and off, that was pretty tense.

The ending was OK, I don't really have a preference on either.

The worst (and by that I mean best) part was when Sam died. Very sad.

It is one of the few movies that everyone in my family can say that they like. That being said, the alternate ending is much better and has one of the most chilling scenes I've ever seen in cinema. I personally would say it is a movie that has far more depth than most give it credit for and Will Smith has come a long way as an actor since his Fresh Prince in Bel Air days. I am Legend and 7 Pounds are the two movies that prove that Will Smith is one of the better actors in Hollywood today since both movies make or break based on his acting alone.

I really enjoyed it the first time round, I found it incredibly tense. Half the times I expected the monsters to show up they didn't, so it kept me on the edge of my seat.

Unfortunatly, because of this, its much less impressive when you see it for the second or third time.

The one with Will Smith? It sucked. Not the main part of the movie so much, but definitely the ending. For those who don't know...

SPOILER!

The actual plot(ie not the failure of a remake I Am Legend) ends with our protagonist being shown to be the bad guy and the vampires to be the good guys. It gives a moral story, but test audiences for I Am Legend didn't appreciate we humans appearing as bad guys, so the ending was rewritten. Released as "The controversial alternate ending" on DVD, you get to watch the real ending, but it's still not as good as the original. So...1 out of 5 because they failed to capture the original message of the movie, and remade it into a mindless action flick aka Hollywood generic failure.
pretty much what i was going to say, although i think you captured it much better than i could have said

I thought it was stupid as shit when he sacrificed himself. He could've just dropped the grenade through the hole in the glass where the nightslaker headbutted it open, and then went into the chamber with the woman and child. Or even just dropped it right before they were about to get through and went in.

2 out of 5

So generic that I could guess every single plot line before it happened, plus boring as hell without any true story depth

I guess it's what a mainstream American audience would enjoy

This, also this is my favorite movie. The only one I can say that I think is as good is A Boy and His Dog, you know, the movie that helped inspire Fallout.
