People might have a strong distrust for people of Asian descent here in Britain now because of a lot of the tension that formed after the 7/7 bombings and countless bomb scares. That doesn't necessarily mean they are racist, but negative experiences have now shaped one's subconscious opinion. The same logic can be applied as before.
Islam is not a race, it's a religion. Also, I think Brits should stop using the term Asian to describe people from countries such as Pakistan because it's confusing as hell.
I never said Islam was a race, I said people of Asian descent, and I'm talking about how one subconsciously lumps a similar ethnicity together due to lack of understanding and fear.
And I don't think we should stop using the term Asian for that, because that's what they are. Granted it's the same as calling a British person European, but it works for this instance I'm talking about, what with the lack of understanding and all.
my girlfriend still doesn't believe me that india's a part of asia -.-
but ot: racism can be defined in different ways by different people. it all depends on what you and others around you to be considered offensive. terms like guidos, micks, pakis, etc can be offensive to some people, but not to others.
that being said, i like sick boy's view on things. some may call me racist because i stay away from and look down on the gangsta wannabe pieces of shit that hang around my mall, because they're of a different ethnicity, i have no problems with their ethnicity, it's because they're gangsta wannabe pieces of shit that i look down on them
