I don't have a problem with black people, but most of the ones I know are hard to understand. It's like with Little Jacob in GTA IV, I'd like some subtitles.

I'm racist but only because I believe their are scientifically identifiable differences in behaviour, intelligence, stature etc between races. I however can't stand people who are racist with no justification e.g. they have done no research etc they just are because their friends are.

And for the record I am White, but believe that evidence concludes that Oriental people are smarter than Whites based on IQ. I may be racist but I think everything I believe can be backed up and I am not arrogant enough to think that my Race is 'the best'.

This seems to show that Intelligence is genetic and as we all know the different races are genetically different. I know this isn't a direct proof but I shows that racial differences in intelligence are far from fantasy

This is lifted directly from the wiki article on 'Race vs Intelligence' and lists average IQs of the races. Note that this backs up my remarks about Oriental (East Asian) people being more intelligent than Whites.

I hope this helps clarify my statements and also shows that I may be racist but it's not all negative (damn those chinese being so smart!) and that I am not being ignorant with my beliefs (infact I believe that I am more enlightened than some who will not even consider these differences).

im Amerindian and although forth place isn't that bad i still think there are always exceptions to anything. because there are always exceptions don't you think it would be better to judge people on an individual bases? also couldn't these differences be cultural instead of genetic?

I definately agree, their are always exceptions to any rules, and in day to day life I tend to judge people on an individual basis as I believe irregardless of what I put above people of any race etc can be good people and that is what matters. I do believe some of these differences can be explained socially but even when adjusted for differing social situations the above results tend to still hold true.

I don't want people to think that I am some backwards fool who runs around with a burning cross etc. I am not, I treat everyone I meet with respect as long as it is shown to me,irrelgardless of race. However I do believe that their are differences and that these should be investigated and understood rather than put aside for being 'politically incorrect' science can not be politically incorrect only its applications.

im not racist... i have no problem with talking to people of any minority or doing anything with them....

the only time im ever wary is if someone comes up looking like a gangbanger... but thats not being racist its being scared of someone you beleive can harm you... lol that also goes for people in the UK.. we get CHAVS (council housing and violent) or in scotland, NED(non-educated delinquent) who are generally white but are still quite intimidating...

I see no difference in people, mostly because I grew up with people of varying different races and colours, I don't think I even understood why people would hate someone because of how they looked until I was about 12. I can understand though why people would act diffrently though I know some people will subconsciously walk a little more on the right when they go past someone who's black or be a little less trusting of someone because there an immigrant. Its not there fault its either the way they've been raised or the way something like the media has influenced them.

Racism is quite easy to understand.

Racism is kind of like a hangover from our tribal days, it's an ingrained fear of the 'other' which exists in all of us subconsciously as a safety mechanism. In tribal society, if you were in tribe A and you saw tribe B who looked a little different coming over the hill... well, it payed to be on your guard in that situation. They may be coming over to play tiddly-winks or they may be coming to start a war. So that whole automatic thing where your psychological defenses go up when you see people who look different approach... that's a perfectly natural, normal thing, and in this sense, everyone is a little bit racist. It's nothing to be ashamed of. It's nothing to be particularly proud of, either. It just is what it is. As soon as you realise that that Tribe B just wants to play croquet, or that the guy at the back of the bus with the different skin colour is really quite a nice old chap, then the guard drops somewhat and social interaction returns to normal.

Most other data can be ignored completely. More blacks being in prison says more about the way black people have been treated and had their societies shaped by invading forces and racist policies throughout history, than it does about a black person's "genetic" ability to stay out of prison. Jews and Asians scoring higher on the IQ test than whites tells you more about IQ tests and the structure of learning and cultural imperatives in Jewish/Asian societies than it does about Jews and Asians on a racial/genetic level. Social factors are what causes these differences, not racial factors. Sure, the social factors may be race-determined (people, listening to their inner subconscious fear thing mentioned earlier, may not want to mix with the "other" race, so they draw up rules to make it so that the other race doesn't get their bit of the pie) but it's the social rule that determins the racial rule, not the other way around. Genetic differences between humans are so muddled that "race" alone is genuinely not a useful factor for determining anything at all about the way humans think or act. And this, above everything else, is why making race-based policies is stupid. "Race" in the traditional sense doesn't really exist in any clearly defined way, on a pure biological, scientific level, apart from superficial things like skin colour and hair texture (and even that's not 100%). Racism may or may not be morally wrong depending on your morals, but it is definitely scientifically wrong. That's why the Nazi scientists never actually found anything out in all their years of study. Their "scientific discoveries" were thrown in the dustbin as soon as the Allies took over, not because they were immoral but because they were incorrect.

Also, as a minority, I think your fourth option is bullshit. While yes, everyone is a little racist, no one should be allowed to seriously call another race by a derogatory term. Jokes are fine, but blatant racism is wrong for anyone.

I make no apologies for drawing certain conclusions about cultures due to my experience with them and their tendency to take pride in living down to stereotypes. I view black people the way Chris Rock did in his famous routine copiously using the N-word, I've no tolerance for immigrants who can't be bothered to come here legally, learn our language, pay taxes, and otherwise act like Americans, and for that matter I can't stand fat, American Idol-watching, ignorant moron white soccer moms either.

I'm a little intrigued by your use of "can't be bothered." I got the impression that illegal aliens cross the border because there is absolutely no hope for them in their native country (pretty sure we're both thinking Mexico here, but it counts for other places too). What if you have no opportunity to learn the language? How do you pay taxes if you had no choice but to sneak into the country, or how do you afford to pay them if you're just barely able to support yourself through under-the-table jobs? What do you think of Cesar Milan?

I hate how we have to be so carefull when talking about race, just incase people spot something 'racially incorrect' in your sentance after disecting it, trying, hoping to be offended.

Somebody was mentioning earlier that there is no discussion of race in their school because nobody knows how to talk about it. I wonder if that isn't true of a lot of people here. We talk about it a lot in my house because of the whole biracial identity thing, and I think it's sort of taught me how to accept being... flawed, if you will. I know it's wrong to be racist. I know I'm racist. I can't say I'm doing my best to overcome that unless I accept I'm racist. I made this thread because I was hoping that other people would see that it's not so bad to accuse yourself of racism ? at least, it's not worse than denying you're racist when you are.

This poll is stupid, few racists actually consider them self's racist.

I wanted to see how many people would confess, especially after I "came out" as racist in the OP. I must say, I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how many have.

Well, I do feel uncomfortable when I know I'm entering a white-unfriendly immigrant neighbourhood and everybody is staring at me because of the colour of my skin. However, there are a lot of bad white neighbourhoods too, and they pretty much have the same effect on me. I think it has more to do with a sense of belonging, and being viewed as an outsider rather than outright racism.

I don't feel uneasy or uptight if I am near a non-white in a bus, shop, restaurant, street or whatever, so no, I wouldn't consider myself a racist.

Pretty much this. Or rather I used to until I worked as a cop in the african american part of town for a long time. Now I'm largely unaffected. Though I'm not going to claim sainthood and not say i make assumptions. It's usually more a whole apperance thing I'll make the same assumptions about a black or white kid wearing clothes they're swimming in, a flat-billed hat off to the side with the sticker still on it, and big gaudy (usually fake) jewelry. I make the same assumptions about a guy who beats his wife and is wearing nothing but boxers and a tank-top regaurdless of race.

I dunno it's a grey area.

Ive never understood that, why do black people, latinos, or any other minority get off with calling white people "cracker" or "white boy" but then when we call them "black" or "beaner" we get cussed for being "ignorant"?

I know its impossible, but we should all just stop calling eachother these things altogether, or just stop seeing them as derogatory.

I admit that I can be racist, but not in the way the OP is, I will often make racist or stereotypical jokes, even if the race im making fun of is in the room, and ive never gotten called out for it, and thats because everyone knows its all in good fun. and i wish other people that claim "im NOT a racist" would get off their moral high horse and realize theres no harm in racial humor if you are making fun of a stereotype, just dont apply your racial jokes liberally, that just gets dull.

It's human nature to group things together. I've nothing against people of a certain race, but I have, on the rate occasion, hesitated before saying certain things around certain people of certain ethnicities because I believe they may be offended. That, in itself, is racism.

Although, that said I seem to be one of the few people who realises that black people don't mind being called 'black' when trying to identify them. Like people who say 'black' in a hushed voice as if they're being racist for realising.
