Firstly wow there's a lot of anti-smoking trolls on this forum. Just because someone enjoys something and says they're happy about it doesn't make them a troll.

Secondly try to get flavored cigarettes, they smell nice and taste great. I'm a fan of chocolate and vanilla flavored cigarettes.
And just because some sees smoking as an expensive method of self harm, isn't a troll either.

People have really got to learn that "this person doesn't believe what I believe, therefore they're a troll" isn't what trolling is.
It's just the way they say it, for example on the first page "People still smoke in this day and age?". Sounds like a very rude and trollish way of putting it. Disagreeing with it is one thing, being a jerk about it is another.
No, you think it's a very trollish thing to say.

It's not the 1950's, people can't claim ignorance to the harms of smoking, there's information everywhere telling you how bad it is for your body.

You want to smoke? Go for it. I couldn't give a toss, but don't think you can go through life not expecting people not to point out how ridiculously bad it is for you.
The reason I thought we were done with people saying it's bad is because of things like those Truth advertizements on TV that say how bad it is or the fact that it's on every pack of cigarettes. To make things worse they're gonna add horrific pictures to cigarettes packs. We know how bad it is for us, we don't need everyone to remind us. I thought people understood that anti-smoking crap is already everywhere and that we smokers can see it.
But you continue to do it?

When I was younger, my parents told me to never play with fire because you will get burned.

I know it's a weak analogy, but when the world is telling you that something is harming you, but you do it anyway, you sort of deserve all the stick you get for it.
I propose a deal then. You and everyone else can tell me smoking is bad and in return I can insult you for pointing out the obvious. It's only fair if you get to do that that I can in turn fire back.
And who, exactly, is going to seem like the bad guy there?

One of you is pointing out the obvious in an attempt to spread the news about an unhealthy addiction in an attempt to help you live a healthier life or, at the very least, save a huge chunk of cash.

One of you is pointing out the obvious about someone pointing out the obvious.

"Duhhhh! I know sticking my hand in this fire is burning me, but I'm gonna keep doing it anyway."
Actually I had a better idea, I'll just be the bigger man and walk away from people who feel the need to insult me for doing something I enjoy because they're so insecure about themselves.

And you're the one that called me out on pointing out a detail that was clearly an exaggeration.

I'm sure you have a point somewhere and i'm praying you get to it soon or this banter is going to drag on for no reason whatsoever.

I know I was just making a point, I know you were exaggerating and then you go and quote dictionary at me which makes me think you are a bit of a....... well lets not drag this into the gutter.

I'm sure if you put on a bit of baby powder, made yourself all soft and squishy, we can just hug it out in a manly sort of way.

I won't take offence at you quoting dictionary, granted it's a smart arse move and who likes a smart arse?

But i'm sure you are a bubbly cupcake of playfulness on the inside.

Isn't that what they say about why people become bullies? Because they're insecure or just taking out their own misery on someone else? That's what this is, bullying people into quitting something they enjoy.

Trading wealth AND health for a hobby doesn't nessicarily make it a BAD hobby, so much as it is the worst possible hobby you can choose. I'd only think you were stupid if you didn't know what you were getting yourself into - instead, I think you are a damn fool.

I'm sure the poll has already been done, but look it up.... :effort:

So I just started smoking last week and I'm loving it so far. I do it for the camaraderie. I enjoy going outside with friends to have a smoke. I tried Camels but like Marbs better. I just wanted to see what people think of smoking, and to see what everyone else smokes?

Please don't tell me to stop, because I am not addicted to it and could if I want to. I enjoy smoking.
You aren't addicted YET. I was lucky enough the whole time I did smoke that I never got addicted. I started out because my friends did and I was curious. Continued cause it helped with my stress. For a while at least. It stopped helping I stopped smoking. Can't smoke even if I wanted to any more. The joys of having asthma. I watched my grandpa die from emphysema when I was 16. I am a lot happier now that I don't smoke. And honestly, kissing a smoker is disgusting. I feel sorry for whomever you date and decide to kiss. Even when I did smoke I refused to date smokers because it is like licking an ashtray. Disgusting. But if that's what you want to do with your life have at it.

Wow.

Wow.

Just wow.

Seriously.

Fucking WOW.

Did you really just call him a bully? Did you really just accuse him of trying to bully you to quit smoking?

Holy fucking shit. That just happened.

You, sir, have lost literally every ounce of my respect. Someone is telling you the truth about the fact that smoking has been proven beyond shadow of a doubt to be drastically unhealthy and dangerously addictive as well as incredibly expensive, and how he finds the act to be incredibly stupid... and you accuse him of bullying. Of all the things to accuse him of... bullying.

Your only excuse to continue to do it, even with all that evidence stacked against the act itself, is that "you enjoy it". And you accuse him of bullying.

That is... it's just...

Sad. It's sad. It's very sad. If I was the type for weep for people, I'd be weeping my eyes out for you.

I'm going on five weeks without a cigarette, and feeling much better for it. My lungs already feel cleaner, my breath is fresher, my throat less like it's full of crap.

Cigarettes are really, really overrated. I honestly couldn't tell you why I smoked them. The 'social' aspect of it really translates to "huddling for warmth with a bunch of other smokers outside the bar on a cold, rainy night", and there's bugger all actual effect from it apart from cancer and a sore throat.

OP, if you want to smoke anything socially, at least smoke weed. A) It actually enourages you to be more sociable with other people, B) You actually share spliffs with others, not chuffing away all on your own private cigarettes, and C) at least you get an actual psychological effect from all that smoke going into your lungs.
I don't smoke weed, but I've heard from many sources it's not NEARLY as dangerous. About the most dangerous thing about weed is the cops if you live in an area where it has been illegalized.

If you won't stop smoking for yourself, do it for the people around you, or at least don't smoke in public. Unlike other addictive substances, smoking not only harms you, but the people in your vicinity as well.
Kind of makes me wonder why the stuff is legal when it's so much more harmful than other drugs like marijuana.

I always have a good laugh at the hypocrites who say tobacco is bad but still smoke weed.

There've been much more studies to prove that pot smoke contains more tar and other gunk than tobacco--especially given that joints, by their very nature, are always unfiltered.

Four times as much gunk goes into your lungs from one joint as from one cigarette. That's a proven fact. And yet these people don't realise how ludicrous and hollow their arguments become when they advocate marijuana. I guess pot really does make you dumb~

you hear that, OP?
according to this guy, smoking is a worse decision than all of the following:
- doing heroin
- cooking meth in your basement
- drunken one-night stands
- buying the collector's edition of bullet witch
- marrying a sailor
- bugchasing
- listening to katy perry
- voting for rick perry
- cheating on your girlfriend with her 13-year-old sister
- eating at godfather's pizza

let that be a lesson to you :v
Do you really think that the OP is going to make any of those choices?
Prove he won't.

Going with the most likely circumstances and just assuming this guy is an average guy, he will never do any of this.
I like how so many of you only read maybe the first two entries on the list. It's really quite precious how much of my point went right over your head~

Here's an example of what you're too busy bleating to have noticed: The average person has, or has had, at least one drunken one-night stand in his life.

So by that logic,
...which in reality is not logic at all...

yes, this is the worst decision he will ever make.
I'm sorry, but your hyperbole is showing.

The average person makes much worse decisions than taking up smoking. How many people had to declare bankruptcy because they decided to take out one of those infamous subprime mortgages, hmm? I'd say that's a much worse decision than becoming a Marlboro Man will ever be. The average marriage ends in divorce today, and divorce is very expensive. I'd say those failed marriages were much worse decisions than taking the occasional cigarette break. The average American votes against his or her own best interests due to non-issues such as religion and candidate likability. That is a much worse decision than whether or not to smoke.

See? That's logic, baby--the real deal. Since I'm sure you're not familiar with it, I suggest you take some Excedrin if it gave you a headache, and Midol if it caused a cramp.
