It's not your love of steak that makes you a bad person. It's the people you have tied up in your basement dressed as childhood favorites. Unless that's not you, in which case, you can ignore that bit. We didn't start out as hunters and gatherers that began domestication of such animals so that you could have moral quilt. But, if you're really worried about it, get some "free range" only beef, or something.

Depends how you like it cooked.

Anything more than medium rare at a push and you are a despicable human being who ought to be banned from eating anything but celery because you obviously have no taste.

Humans delude themselves that somehow they are more than animals. We're not. We are animals and we do the same things other animals do. We fight for territory, we want to procreate and we eat the weak members of other species. We are predators and we act like predators. Eating other animals is perfectly normal.

Of course not. And you aren't if you don't either.

Personally not fond of it myself. Too chewy usually.
well than sir, maybe it depends on what way you like your steak. medium-well? well done? medium? rare? if you have well done becuase you dont like blood or excessive pinkness, go with medium-well. well cooked, yet not much blood or pink. of course, the way a steak is meant to be had is medium, and if the cook is good at it, a medium cooked steak tends to melt in your mouth[not literally, figuratively], because of the juicyness and tenderness of said steak. of course, i will look like a tool if you knew this already.

No?

Steak is one of my favourite meals.
Medium rare...a tad bloody.
With chips.
And salad.
And mayonnaise.

Mmmmmmmm.

Well, no, you're not a bad person, I just think you have bad taste in meat. I mean, chicken is clearly the superior meat, it's healthier, produces better gravy, is cheaper, is easier to cut and is just plain nicer.

come on man, a medium cooked steak is still juicy and tender, yet dosent have as much blood as a medium-rare steak. some people dont like the blood, so the tend to not drift below medium. however, people who eat a steak well-done are ruiners of what could have been a great meal, because the steak turns to leather.

And while I think animals aren't humans (from a cultural point of view), I still think killing them without really needing to is bad.
Actually, animals aren't humans from any point of view.
Killing them without needing too is perfectly fine if you want to.
Y'know, so long as it's done in a humane manner and whatnot.

RubyT said:
Lions don't have a choice, we do. If we were a race that didn't kill to eat, it would make us better.
I see no reason why that would be true.
Eating meat harms no person, thus is not in violation of any philosophical rule I've heard of.

RubyT said:
And Veganism works. If you know what you're doing - and it ain't exactly rocket science - you can live healthily without animal products. It's just that people are misinformed, extremely prejudiced and complacant about this.
Sure it can work, but it isn't easy for your everyday person, especially your everyday poor, hardworking person, when meat is cheap and effective.
Your post is exactly the reason that vegans come off as elitist.

RubyT said:
But I like meat. I know I should be a vegan, but I'm too lazy to change my ways (at least as of yet) and I like the taste of dead animals.
High-five.

RubyT said:
If you think veganism makes you sick, you're just misinformed. If you don't know about the disadvantages of the meat industry, you're not educated enough. If you think animals should be held in concentration camps and serve as food, you've probably just not thought it through.
Maybe you know all of this but you're culturally biased or whatever.[/qupte]
You're actually better off being either a fish eater, a vegitarian, or an occasional meat eater, as veganism and regular meat eaters have the highest mortality rate, although it was mentioned that the vegitarianism score was due primarily to low smoking rates.

RubyT said:
But I'm fully aware and I've accepted these facts, yet for my own laziness and desires, I choose to ignore it. THAT makes me a terrible person. Good thing I'm a materialist too, so I don't believe in Karma or Hell or such.
I hope I changed your mind, or at least affected your view, and reduced your guilt a little.
It can be a nerve wracking thing.

Captcha: this or that
You can really go either way, as long as you don't go around making others feel guilty.

I accidentally voted "yes" because my brain is made of garlic and cake mixed together with cement...

So what I actually meant to say, NO. It's totally fine ^-^! Meat is meant to be enjoyed, not discussed over xD

Yes, you are a terrible person. You should love all stakes, not just one. STOP DISCRIMINATING!

Also, lol at the poll:

That's 105.9%, if it's not very clear (and it's not).

EDIT: It's not 105% with 21 votes.
And now it's yes at 7.7% (17) and no at 92.8% (205), which adds up to 100.5% total. I guess the polling system is just really, really bad with decimals, lol.

No, it just means your sane, and haven't gone down the loopy route of not eating one of the very things we humans are meant to consume as part of a diet. Plus, if you didn't eat steak, you'd essentially be denying a cow the chance to fulfil it's number one purpose in life. And you really wouldn't want to do that.

Also, I selected "yes" by accident but managed to switch to "no" and hit the button again before the page loaded, so I don't know what will have happened there.

So, you rub it in garlic, thyme and some black pepper (possibly some chilli, but I prefer to add that later, I like it fresh, not fried),[footnote]Of course, spices and herbs are always subject to preference; these are merely my suggestions.[/footnote] heat the frying-pan to the highest possible temperature, and then brush it with a light coat of olive oil. Wait until the oil is is as hot as possible without burning, and throw in the steak. As soon as the one side is ready, flip the steak. In this way, all juices are sealed as quickly as possible. If you do not prefer it raw, turn down heat (roughly medium), and fry it until it's as you like it. The best way to see if it's according to your preference is to poke it with a fork or make a small cut in it. If you like it raw as I do,[footnote]I prefer it bloody.[/footnote] remove it shortly after all sides are thoroughly browned.
My personal preference is a green salad, baked potatoes (pm for recommendations for fillings, but if you want it simple, garlic butter is never wrong here), and a Guinness (but a brown ale or IPA will do nicely; a light lager will often not work as well here; there are exceptions, but selecting beers to a meal is far more complex than selecting wines).

...

I'm sorry, what's the question?

Look, if it doesn't moo when you stick your fork in it something has obviously gone wrong somewhere.

No you are not beside steak is awesome. Besides if you didn't eat steak you would be disappointing all those cows you have spent their entire lives preparing for their moment to shine.

Without the complex proteins of fishies and meats our brains would never have developed, anyone that say meat is evil or your bad person for eating animals, just tell them to study evolution and brain formation and let them see that eating grass and leaves might get you thru the day but you would still be eating lice out of your fur. those complex proteins are amazing things, how how they kick start brain evolution, especially when you eat fishes.
Does that mean i am stupid
I am allergic to fish
