I use IE, not because I think it even remotely approaches the quality of Chrome or Firefox, and not because I'm too lazy or ignorant to download other browsers. To date I've tried downloading Firefox, Chrome, and Safari on my laptop. Chrome and Safari don't work at all, and Firefox is about twice as slow as IE. However, on my home desktop computer I use Chrome and it is just miles better than IE.

Why not take this a bit further?

Why are you still using Firefox 3 or 4 instead of upgrading to 5? And even if you did, why would you use 5 at all?
Never heard of Aurora or Nightly? Oh, you did, but are afraid that your addons won't work? You can change that in the the config.
Yes, about:config, what, is your IQ like 50?

And why do you use Chrome instead of Chromium? And if you really have to use Chrome, why don't you use the newest beta? Are you mentally challenged?

Jesus Christ, the internet is full of idiots!

Firefox is pretty crap too in my opinion.
Its not as slow as IE, but its still pretty poor.

Google Chrome just seems to work for me.
Pages open when I click and there is not scroll lag.
Both of those are present in the other two for me.

[edit]
oh, I thought of one flaw that Google Chrome has.
It can't play minecraft in browser...
And since It wont work when I download, I keep Firefox around for that one reason.

[Edit2]

On topic.
No, using IE doesn't mean your stupid.
It means you either cannot use any others, you don't know about the others well, you haven't tried the others.

Or in rare cases, you simply Like IE better.

No. It does indicate a lack of caring, but if you don't use it much then eh.

I mean I hate IE, really hate it but others use it for their own reasons, if you don't need to have speed or anything clever at all (including handy spellcheck which I WISH some people would use...seriously...) then why does it matter?

Certainly doesn't denote IQ though a correlation wouldn't surprise me I guess...

Sooooo...

I'm stupid for using an Internet Explorer? IT'S A FUCKING INTERNET PROGRAM. I thought they were all the same. And isn't Explorer a default browser installed in every windows computer?
Well, being the default program of the most common OS, it is the most used and basic of possible browsers.

Those savvy enough to use other browsers tend to do so.

It is used by the most people, and as we all know, more people are dumber than less people.

IE tend to be the default and people who arent as PC savvy as us tend to not bother switching to other browsers. so really there isnt an actual way to do these kinda polls without some sort of error or overlooked variable.

Ah I have it! The IQ test clearly used time as part of the criteria, I expect the IE users just took longer to load the questions up. Solved.

...People are studying to find out if using a web browser denotes intelligence.

Web browsers.

Not anything major like education, upbringing, social life, or living conditions...but a web browser.

...

Don't these people have a day job or something? And if this is their day job, they don't have enough to do. Seriously.

Internet Explorer is a FANTASTIC tool to download Firefox on.

I thought we all knew IQ tests to evaluate intelligence are stupid
Thank you! High IQ does not mean you are smart. Low IQ does not mean you're stupid.
IQ is one of the many types of intelligence there is. Saying someone is stupid for lacking knowledge is idiotic too. I can guarantee you some of the brightest minds in the world are unaware of what browser is the best one and uses IE out of simplicity.

I more look to the fact that the group or person doing this survey originally isn't keen on microsoft or IE at all so of course if you use them you must be stupid, it's called be bias.I don't use IE but I know it's crap.People who do is like someone said above, lack of tech knowledge or what can happen to your pc using IE

or so the study [http://www.pcworld.com/article/236944/internet_explorer_users_are_kinda_stupid_study_suggests.html] seems to suggest.

personaly, I believe there are other factors involved that weren't considered, and the results of the study are unacceptably biased.

Thoughts?

EDIT: in case it wasn't clear, i don't endorse these results. i've only reported them.
don't shoot the messenger. o.o;;
I thought that this was an incredibly rude and snobby post.

Then I realized that you were talking about Internet Explorer.

You are now one of my favorite people.

Firefox and chrome people are also stupid. To be smart you must use Opera, camino, or IE /w Chrome frame.
I use Opera so I guess I'm OK with this.

you're not stupid, but you could learn to read the post before replying to it. i use IE too, and just to save you the trouble of doing what you should have done in the first place, i'll just summarize the OP here.

the study, which was not made by me, is inexcusably biased and shouldn't be taken seriously.
