And how the blood flow is going at the time.
That's the double edged sword of morning wood, isn't it? You daren't stand up and try to aim, but sitting down you have to wrestle your dick into the bowl.
[sub]Might be exaggerating a little bit, but whatever.[/sub]
oh this is just about the worst
I swear every time I wake up I have to do a one-handed handstand in front of the toilet

OT: well I have my own bathroom in my bedroom, so I don't have to bother about that
but I still always put down the seat and the lid, for whatever reason I can't flush the toilet when both are up
Why overcomplicate it?

Statistically, it should always be down. Hygenically, the lid should be down as well.

Realistically, look before you do anything, and there ARE bigger issues than every once in a while, you have to do something about it.

Nothing new under the sun. *adjusts my monocle* Good day to you all.

People sit on the toilet more than they stand and use it.

Men may stand when they pee, but everyone sits when they poo.

At least... I hope so.

So no.

And as a guy I'm sick of stupid anti-putting-the-seat-down arguments.

People talk about this issue as if major equality wars have been fought over it, it's a toilet seat.

It depends on who has the majority in said house. Or alternatively, you can just use the toilet and not make an issue over what the default position of the seat is.

If I was pushed, I'd say the toilet seat should be left down because both sexes use it down and it looks tidier.
Yeah, I don't see what the deal is either.
I actually kind of put off asking boyfriend to put the seat down because if you listen to the internet it's some sort of fundamental dude-right. In reality it was just like `Can you leave the seat down?`- `Sure, I'll try to remember`.

I put the seat and the lid down. Ha, now both genders have to do work. Equality ensues. You're welcome, world!
Also this. It's tidier and better germs-wise. It's really not that much effort anyway...no more than flushing, at least.

I don't get this "problem"
why would you stand to pee when you can sit in the first place?
... Because you can stand, that's why. How is sitting easier?

If you aren't going to use it properly then cut it off and send it back to the Man Shop.

OT: I always drop mine because it has one of those things that makes the seat fall really slowly.

It's fascinating.

I'd be more bothered by the lid being left open at all, by a man or a woman.

I live alone and always put down the lid, that's how it was always done growing up, and this way pets like cats or dogs don't get in there.

Also, is this an issue? The only arguments I've ever heard of this in real life were about leaving the lid open and having the dog drink from there.

Look man, if you're just gonna come here and spout out smartness, I really don't think you belong in the Internet.
I-I'm sorry. I don't really know what came over me. I will have to take corrective action now. I will report to my nearest Internet corrective facility for some YouTube comment therapy.

Banana.

Toilets like to aerosolize their contents when they flush. So aerosolized shit, piss and whatever else. All over your bathroom. And in the air. Which your breathing.

You both put the bleeding seat AND lid down.

Unless you like airborne shit getting into your mouth? I've heard some people are into that, it's fine, we won't judge you. (By which I mean we totally will. Weirdo)

I barely have an answer to this. I think if late at night and in a tired haze I can remember to lift up the seat, women can, in the same time at night and also in a tired haze remember to put it down for themselves.

I put it down regardless, but the argument 'I HAVE TO SIT' falls on deaf ears because I remember to lift and put it down. For the civility of all. Then she can be bothered to make sure it's down for her, just to keep the bases covered.

Ok, I answered the topic. Now to my real purpose here.

How can one tell who is going to use the toilet afterwards?
I've been meaning to ask about your avatar. I'm intrigued and I wish to learn more.

I always think of the seat down and closed as being the "default" position, so I always feel inclined to put it down regardless, and I get a little annoyed when other people don't.

Theres something ive always wondered.

Why is it women fall into the toilet? Your telling me, when entering the bathroom, your in such a rush that your going to sprint to the toilet, and without looking, go dead weight on a seat that might not be there?

Im all for equality, and i think both genders are equal, but why are you in such a hurry to use the bathroom? You cant take .5 seconds to look at the seat and say "its up", or "its down"? When i enter the bathroom, i take time to look in the shower for Serial Killers and the ceiling for spiders before i even consider urinating and/or bowel evacuations. (Better safe then sorry bros. Besides, it would be rude to poop and take up the time of another if Jeff is on a tight schedule)

You'll have to forgive me if i come off a little ranty or biased, but its just something that takes no effort or time to do. "Look before you leap", is one of the oldest sayings in history, why cant women "look before they sit"? But thats just my 2 cents.

And yes, i think women should put the seat up for men after they finish. Chances are, the next person to use the bathroom will be the other tenant of the house hold, which is more often then not a man. Just as i think a women who reaches the door first, should open the door for a man. (if i reach it first, i'll happily open it for her, but if she reaches it first, its far less awkward if she opens it, and far more equal, as she would expect the same of me.)

There are methods to accomodate smaller bathrooms as well.
Some guys' erections sort lie on their stomachs though, so this wouldn't really work for them.

I have my own bathroom, I usually leave the seat up. The fecal particulates, while a disgusting thought, aren't really any danger. Your mouth is a wonderfully controlled environment of competing microorganisms, enzymes, and antimicrobials.

In Italy, it's popular for public toilets not to have seats at all. The seats themselves are considered gross, and people pop a squat.

Well, I always put my seat down and close the lid, mainly because my cat's a moron and she'll try to drink out of the toilet otherwise.

I suppose you have never had cystitis, then.

I didn't realise the toilet seat was such a sore issue for some people.
