Poll: If you could bend one element, what would it be?

I'd take fire. If you REALLY think through the options, it might not be the best(air could certainly whoop fire's ass in a 1v1 match), but it's flashy and fun, while still having awesome capabilities.

The most honest reason:
Man, how could would it be, lighting a cigarete with the tip of your finger? Always wanted to do that...

everybody who has said "earth bending would be bad because you would destroy the area around you and leave trenches in the ground or holes in the road." while i agree buildings would sustain damage, any holes you make could be closed again quite easily and if someone brings up the argument, oh .50 cal rifle could pierce your earth wall (i know nothing of guns), well just make a hole under your feet and drop down so the bullet misses (duh)

Well, if Earthbenders can bend metal to their will as well as earth, then I see no reason for them to not bend other metals like silver, and gold, which would be very profitable and interesting.

So I'll probably be an Earthbender. If not, I'll be a Waterbender.

If I could have 2 then i would be Earth/Fire so I could make awesome jewelry

Water, it makes up a large percentage of the earth and is easy to create.

Water, if it rains, you're pracically invincible, plus humans are what, 80-90% water, you could just suck that out of them, easy kills.

Or you could just carry a water pistol everywhere you go.

Air - Control over wind. I suppose it would be fun to fly around, but I imagine it would get cold.

Fire - Definately the coolest, but since we don't live in the 4th century and don't have ready access to campfires etc. there wouldn't be much of a source to manipulate.

Water - Makes up a large portion of the planets surface, but there isn't a huge amount that can be done with water...

Earth - Makes up a HUGE portion of the planet. Hence the name... Earth... Summoning spires of rock to combat the other elements? Hell yeah.

Air, mainly cause I always wanted to fly since I was young. Also apparently, it matches my personality type. You can be your own PC, if you make cold air, you can turn water to ice, and its relaxing. Also it's everywhere, so in a battle, why grab a weapon when you can just use wind?

I usually never think or care about this kind of stuff. This kind of topic usually fits in to the whole "my top 10 things of all time list" topics, which I generally think are a pointless waste of time and I can never decide on anyway. But I have given thought to this, yet I still can't think of an answer. They're all awesome in their own way. I suppose if it was dictated by my personality I could be anything except an earth bender. Maybe I'm closest to being an air bender. I don't know. But if it was just down to my own choice, then I have no idea.

Aang was raised as a pacifist. It's likely, though, that Master Gyatso did something like that to the Fire Nation soldiers who attacked.

Ah yeah I forgot about him being a pacifist.. unless he went all god mode avatar state but yeah. Maybe in this new series Avatar Korra will do something like it since she's not opposed to violence hah

Water Bending seems to be the best option. Earth has tons of water, and Humans are made of water. Seems like the best option, to me at least.
