I hate Square Enix for destroying the Final Fantasy series, and I don't buy their games anymore, because whatever new game they make I find it shallow and boring.

I don't really hate EA as a company, I just detest their business practices. But yeah, they publish way too much to avoid imo.
Agreed. I don't hate them, but I do dislike them. But it's like trying to avoid News Corporation. They're everywhere, so you maty as well give up.

I hate Activision, but considering the quality of their games, I don't exactly find boycotting them hard. EA, on the other hand, I just find too hard to avoid.

Seriously. I'll even provide the link so I don't look like a EA bashing fanboy. Or something of that type.

I suppose they've gotten so used to owning so much stuff, they have to stop and think "Wait, Don't we own that?"
OMG they own YAHTZEE

We're all doomed.

Boycotting things is stupid, if you want to play a game, then play it.

You will effect the sales by a whole 1, not exactly a deal breaker. Or you could just buy used, They hate that.

BTW, how would your father go about Challenging a law that makes it illegal to challenge a law?
In British law, there's no such thing. Any law - in fact, anything in general - can be challenged in court. That's what a case-based system is about. It's not real until it's been challenged and upheld.
Of course there is no law like that, I would be surprised to see a law like that on any form of Government that isnt a Fascist Dictatorship.

For the sake of Clarity, it was a Hypothetical situation.

How would he go about it?

Bethesda's treatment of Skyrim on the PS3 was it for me. I want to play Skyrim, as i am sure the game is pretty good. But i am going to put my money where my mouth is and not support a company who puts out a blatantly broken mess of a game. I can easily buy the 360 or pc version, but that is not the point. Companies should not be rewarded for putting out broken products.

I don't.

I've stuck to my "list" since 2008; the only oddball exceptions of games I own from publishers on that list (EA | Mass Effect 1&2) were gifts I didn't request and didn't expect to receive from a friend (it was gifted via Steam, so I couldn't exactly take it back).

As long as Valve keeps making Left 4 Dead games, I'll keep buying them. But that doesn't mean I'll be happy about it.

You know despite what the american government thinks companies aren't people, I find it hard to muster up hate against them.

QFT. Honestly I did boycott them for like a year, but eventually I gave up because as he said, finding something not published by EA is...difficult, and I'm not so disciplined as to pass up a fantastic game just because a bunch of corporate duschnoggles are gonna get a cut of it.

(If only I was.) :X

But you will still keep buying Assasins Creed games right?
Ubisoft doesn't piss me off quite as much as the others, so they get it a little easier from me.
Sorry this is in no way directed at you, you just reminded me.Oh god i hate ubisoft. I have never been so mad at a company who makes games in my life.

They care so Fucking little!. Case and fucking point. Armored core 4 and armored core for answer. They translated this game HORRIBLY, there was fan translations of the import that was better. The fact they they mistranslate some things leading you to believe characters have different motivations then they actually do, THEY ACTUALLY, the actually... they removed key dialogue scenes and lines. Like there was zero replacement. Dialogue that you need to hear to actually grasp the storyline. If you just played the localized version and didn't look at what was said in the Japanese the Story would be nearly impossible to logically understand.

a character malzel asks his friend to become an informant to get information on the enemy for there plans. This in ubisofts fucked up world translates. Malzel seduced him and betrayed him, WTF are you high? WTF.

Oh my god i fucking hate ubisoft, this shits just clown shoes. If they ever publish another armored core am just sticking to my import and fan translations.

Remember guys! Buy the imports!

Capcom, EA and Activision are the only companies I hate, and they have nothing I want(unless Capcom releases AAI2).

When a company is objectionable enough, I stop purchasing from them. Keep in mind, while I dislike certain policies, that isn't always enough to make them worthy of discontinuing purchases.

Bad games are the best way to get me to stop buying. Dickish policies aren't always.

Considering I'm into gaming for the entertainment value, I couldn't give a shit what company makes what game. If the game is fun, I buy and play it. If the game is shithouse, I will return in, get my money back, and live fucking life.

How would he go about it?
Right.

In the hypothetical situation that a law-making-it-illegal-to-challenge-the-same-law passed through both houses of parliament (and my dad had a client who was a victim of this law and needed defending) my dad would still... challenge that law in court. Basically, he would accuse the government of creating an illegal law (which is not a contradiction in terms - the justice system is funny like that).

In any situation where he really couldn't do that, his job would be fairly irrelevant as one of the fundamental rules that our justice system relies on would have been destroyed. What's the point of lawyers if people don't have the right to legal defence in court? As you say, it would start to look a lot more like a dictatorship.

If that really did happen, he would appeal to the European Court of Human Rights. (To be clear, he wouldn't need to be a lawyer to do that. Anyone in Europe can.) They would assess the law to decide if the UK had broken its diplomatic agreements, and then recommend action by the EU in response.

In the hypothetical situation that a UK law made it illegal to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights, then he would have to flee the country, claim asylum in France, and then appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.

In the hypothetical situation that all the above was true and my dad was arrested whilst fleeing to France and locked up as a political prisoner, then I guess he wouldn't do anything!
