1 hour takes 4 hours of life away? Then no way. If it was something more reasonable like 1 hour of gaming is 1 hour of life lost then absolutely.
Exactly, 400% would mean cancer is basically better than gaming.

If there was some logical way in which videogames could be detrimental to my life expectancy, I probably wouldn't have started playing them in the first place.

Same as how I've never: been drunk/high/stoned, smoked, driven at excessive speeds and so on.

Of course I wouldn't play if it shortens my lifespan, unless there's something I can do about that like sporting, eating healthy, investing in renewable resources.

What's acceptable is...well...probably like a 1 hour gameplay - 1 minute life loss ratio.

They'd better start making shorter games!

That would suck, I would have to...I would have to... I just cant say it...its impossible, looks like im gonna die...oh well, all I have to say is how stupid this is that playing 1 hr of games = 4 hrs of my life gone...

In all serious stuff, I would quit...I would have to for the people around me and the people I care about, but i would be hard to kick!

They say every time you breathe in you lose 3 minutes of your lifespan.
That... defies logic. Because taken literally, your lifespan decreases by not breathing regularly (body gets less oxygen) and assuming a breath takes twenty seconds, this would mean that your life would be ONE NINTH of the norm (so you'd be ten at the most). Taken otherwise, it's still a dumb statement (as the normal lifespan is determined by a population, ALL OF WHOM ARE BREATHING).

Basically, citation needed, as I'm clearly missing something. Are they trying to tell me that if I stopped breathing now and suffered no ill effects, I'd live to be 700?
It's meant to show the ridiculousness of trying to keep yourself from doing anything based entirely on the end consequences. I think it comes from the fact that pure oxygen (not air, just the oxygen gas) is dangerous if exposed for long periods.

Sorta like this quote: 'Life has a 100% mortality rate.'

I call bullocks on this one.

And in any case, this would only prevent my from getting old and senile, so it's okay.

Of course I'll keep playing !

Because the real world sucks, and I need that to not going completely insane (or stupid).
... but I will only play good games.
Yeah, I'd rather play games than live real life. Hell, I already play games to escape life, lol.
I would definitely only play quality games though.

Eh. I fully expect to die within about 4 years, when I get unfortunately hit by a car, survive, but due to a clerical error in the hospital, receive the wrong treatment, and die a medicated death, after saying my goodbye to loved ones. It was predicted, even, to me, but an old lady with a wart on her nose, at a carnival! It must be true!

But, whether that happens or not, life is about experiencing things, and games provide an entirely different kind of experience. It's worth it, so that next time, I can know these stories, and use them for myself.

Don't say that out loud, someone somewhere will commit suicide to live longer. :p

Or refuse to have a baby so IT will survive.

I just found a way to reduce the stupid in our gene pool! =D

At every 1 hour of gaming shortening my life by 4 hours, hell yeah I'll keep playing. Those are shitty hours anyway.

I think if it started getting to the realm of 1 hour of gaming shortening my life by 10-12 hours, I would certainly play a lot less. I probably wouldn't stop completely.

If it was like 1 hour of gaming for 13-24 hours or something like that I wouldn't really play anymore. Boy that would suck, I've hastened my death by years if that were the case.

If anything I'd start playing more, everything is slowly killing us anyway might as well have some fun along the way.
