People keep talking about "people who deserve it." Sure, I suppose you could justify saying that you only kill bad people, but in my experience I happen to know there are no innocent people. Yes, there are those who commit crimes against the state or country by murdering, raping, molesting, assaulting, stealing, kidnapping, and drug using, but a quick look at any human being beyond the age of eighteen, and your existence is proof of your guilt. You may not realize it now, but know that just by being, you have altered reality. That being said, yes I would take the deal, and yes I would kill anyone I had to to stay alive.

I lose enough sleep when I forget to recycle. Killing people would not bode well for me.

Can I get rain checks? Like if I kill 10 people in one day, am I sweet for the next 10 years?

Can I get the powers to then use to kill?

Also, I've heard that the first kill is the hardest. After that it gets easier.

Or so I've heard.

The fact that this poll is at 50% yes makes me depressed. On that note people who said no are the only ones I would trust with Immortality.

I like how balanced this is, currently at 173 to 171, in favor.
Nonetheless, I would detest immortality. Sure, living forever would be great, but what's life without knowing there is an end that you have to 'beat' and do the most you can before it?
It's like the three hours before school in comparison to the Friday afternoon after class- one makes you actually do stuff and the other makes you sit around bored.
Oh yeah, and the conscious crush of knowing I've killed people eternally would also be a pain.

i would kill Criminal's, they deserve it more then anyone else.

go Death note up in this
Exactly my thoughts. I wouldn´t have any problem with it, if your immortal you can even take the jailtime ....
Would be like a nights sleep for you.
Same thought as along as there is no afterlife consequences I would kill truly evil people.
Drug lords, Murderers and rapist. But I would check the criminal pattern before I kill them. Also, I would use my immortality to save multiple lives so in the end I have saved more lives than I have taken..... And forget death note. I would go Casshern Sins up in this. Theologically speaking. Not literally tearing people limb from limb. I'd just use my telekinetic to make them brain dead but disconnecting a nerve or something.

Hey You fail to mention if you are invulnerable to damage. If I get shot or stabbed or held under water am I going to die or do my wounds have instant recovery like wolverine. If I can't do that then i'm not sure about the immortality thing. On the positive side you just gave me a great Idea for a graphic novel.

It's not hard to kill corruption, specially humans, they're all fragile in the end. What moral implications? Killing corrupted people makes you a good guy, it's as simple as that. It's similar to how fantasy works. Does killing a monster make you a monster? No it makes you a hero.
Ummm, what? Been watching a lot of Dexter? I do not believe that killing a criminal makes you good. You compare this with fantasy? Where the fictional monster in question tends to be purely evil in its nature, subject and entitled to no law and specifically presented as the adversary to the protagonist.

Real criminals are protected by the law, too. It may not be fair but it is what it is. If you condone breaking the law by committing murder just so you can live a whole other year, fine. Just don't try to defend your actions by calling yourself a hero.

Also, you may find it a bit harder to pull the trigger or plunge the knife when you're actually facing said criminal as opposed to discussing it on a forum.

So I'm guessing you are a big fan of Dorian Gray.
I guess I could just enter the army or join a PMC, unless you mean murder an innocent person.

It depends if this immortality includes indestructibility. If it didn't, I probably would, but if it did, I'd do it in an instant.
Hell, I could go find some scientist that wants to know what the inner workings of the planet are, tell him about my situation, and he'd gather the people for me to kill FOR me.
I value indestructibility over immortality any day, cuz immortality would get boring after a while. Being indestructible would never get old!

I would become a doctor and open a euthanasia clinic. I'd be doing something good for a lot of people.
I thought of that too but it's not murder if they actually want to die. Although some people might try to argue that point.

I like that this is 50/50. It shows that there is controversy in this topic, and controversial topics are the most interesting :D
Besides that, it boils down into two groups:
Group A: Believe that they would be able to kill people without any remorse or think it is no problem.
Group B: Either don't like Immortality, or have serious reservations about killing people.

Hay @SlaveNumber23, can we get some clarification as to what kind of immortality this is?

Hell no. I've always thought immortality would suck and I want no truck with it. Sure, it might be fun for a little while, but eventually outliving everyone you care about would get you down, among other things.

And murder someone for it? I have reservations about killing people for my country, let alone for myself.

Eh, I don't even need to worry about the moral aspects of it, I don't think I could get away with it for very long without being caught and locked up.
Heh. That reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode in which the guy sells his soul to the devil for immortality, pulls pranks on people by jumping out of windows and in front of trains, decides to pull a prank on the police by earning the death sentence (via murdering his wife), whereupon his sentence is reduced to life in prison. A guard even tells the guy "Eh, life in prison ain't so bad. You've got like what, 20 years or so left? It'll be fine."
OT: No. Immortality alone would suck, and murdering other people just to extend it would suck even more.

I'm wondering of some people are specifically voting how they are just to keep the poll 50/50.

Personally I'd just hunt down and kill murderers, child molesters, and people who talk at the theater. I'd be doing the world a favor. Dilemma resolved.

I can see ways to make the kills justified (IE become the military's new super soldier, kill only criminals, etc)

But ultimately... i don't know.
