To break down my opinion on this:
In a pefect world, it wouldn't matter whether we had one console, or many competing consoles, because all the games would still be good. The price wouldn't matter either, because everyone would either have enough money to buy them, or they'd be all free. But in our imperfect world, competition serves as the only source of quality and price control, so having the multiple consoles works best.

I do actually like to argue. Just make sure that both people arguing have something intelligent to say that both sides can agree on at different points.

This reminds me of that Monty Python sketch where the guy goes to buy an argument.
