No, not incest, incense! the stuff you burn to make the room smell nice

For a month or so now I have started burning Incense alot in my room, I find it smells quite nice and its very calming. I know, however, that some people cant stand it, like my mother

So I now ask you, fellow Escapists, what are your feelings on incense?

I do like the smell of it, but because of fire safety rules in my dorm, im not allowed to actually burn it.

I AM EXTREMELY oh wait you mean the scented stuff.
No, I never use it. It makes it difficult to breath and half of it smells like detergent.
My mum is always burning it, though.

i've always liked incense. it always reminds me of record stores, where they burn it to cover up the smell of the pot they were smoking in the back room, and the glazed look in their eyes as i ask them to see what's new. ahhhhh, memories.

My mum really got into incense when we visited some hippy market in a tiny village in France. That's...gee, 5 years ago or something? Well, ever since we burn incense on a regular basis.

I quite like it when they burn a milder scent, but the heavier ones, especially this 'rose' scented one are awful. Even worse is when mum thinks it's a good idea to burn some during dinner time. Mind you, the incense box is pretty much right next to the dinner table. Gods, you can taste the stuff...

I like the smell of it, but it is almost never burned. Probably good as I'm a pyromaniac of note

I tend to use it to accentuate the smell of pot.. and only very occasionally to try to hide it

I dislike incense, the smell makes me cough at the least, and if it's strong enough I get sick to my stomach, but it kinda depends on the incense. I hate most common incense, but I love the smell of woodsmoke, so an incense made of wood would probably appeal to me.

I have scented candles if they count... Otherwise, no... Not as far as I'm aware.

I like to burn incense, although it never really smells like anything other than candle smoke (and no I'm not burning candles... I have real incense sticks :l)

Sadly my roommate hates the smell of incense, so out of respect for him I don't burn it anymore. xD

No. I hate the stuff, the smell is too over powering.

Plus, I don't want a room stinking of Lavender or something, makes me feel ill

It generally gives me a sore throat, although it doesn't bother me if I walk into a shop aimed at hippies and get a nose full -- it's part of the experience. It's also banned by dorm fire safety rules, largely because people use it to try to cover up pot smoke. There's also the fact that the fire alarm is sensitive enough that a particularly steamy shower will set it off, so burning anything is not advised.

i love incense but i agree with you, walking through the perfume section is hell on earth

My apartment smells of Jasmine, Sandalwood, or Frankincense almost constantly.
