Read this BEFORE clicking!

The following is a bug. No, it isn't a shock image or crap like that, but it is simple a pic of a scarab beetle, looking into the camera. It is behind a spoiler tag because I am aware some of the folks here have a serious aversion to insects. I found the thing just adorable.

It kinda looks like it's smiling. Does anyone else find that just lovely?

Big spider here, Colbalt blue tarantula...

...I can't fail to be impressed by that animal. It looks so different and otherworldly somehow.

General question - does anyone find some of our littler cousins of the animal kingdom (who happen to have 6 or 10 legs) beautiful, or cute?

Insects terrify me and make me want to vomit. I mean, I can appreciate a butterfly if there's a thick pane of glass between me and it. But I've never understood how people can call them "cute". Especially up close, they seriously make me nauseous.

Some are pretty cool, I like the Monarch butterfly myself. absolutly HATE camel spiders though. those things are... well, they are big enough to warrant heath bars.

You do have a point, some insects and arachnids actually look pretty cool/beautiful (further examples include: butterflys, moths, jewel beatles, scorpions, black widow spiders) while some are fairly repulsive (such as: hornets, fleas, mosquitoes, tarantulas).

Same rule applies to pretty much every family or catagory of lifeform.

I find most interesting and fascinating, but cockroaches freak me out if they wake me up at 2am and they're at 2 feet above my head. In daylight I'm not afraid of the how an insect looks, but more afraid if said insect has some venin harmful to my well being.

They're just interesting to me, except mosquitoes. Those are just annoying little bastards I crush whenever I can.

I like dragonflies and bees. And butterflies.
Not that many insects, though.
Yes, some can be quite beautiful.
But I'm not a big fan of the majority.

99% of insects are anything but if you look at them closely. But yeah, I guess there are exeptions to the rule.

I think that insects and arachnids are the coolest creatures on the planet!

I can't even think of anything else to say about them!

On a side note... I would really like a falcon of my own... train the thing to catch rodents and shit... maybe take out the neighbor's annoying cat.

EDIT: Also, that spider is the coolest one I have EVER seen!

Many insects (and spiders aren't insects, btw, they're arachnids) are really neat-looking. Unfortunately many of them also sting and bite and leave painful welts that induce allergic reactions. Hence why I don't like to handle them even when they look cool.

Some insects can be absolutely beautiful, but hairy spiders and such gross. some that has a beautiful color and shines in the sunlight, that is absolutely amazing.

They can be verry pretty, that beetle is cute indeed, but this is a truly beautifull insect:

The orchid mantis, it's badass AND pretty!

PS: Tarantula's are pretty awesome, they feel like 8 legged hamsters.

That beetle was smiling, cute.
The spider is perty.
My brother has pet cobalt blue, it's awesome. See, I'm not fusses by big spiders, it's just the little, tiny, scuttling ones that freak me out.
