It's also fun to play inverted because, before live, you could have you friends come over to play split screen and not let them change the look inversion!

I haven't played a console FPS in years... I think I used to use inverted... now I just use a mouse and keyboard

Yep, inverted here as well. Back when the only 3D games were flight sims, you flew as if you were a pilot (inverted), so I got used to that. I quit/throw out games that don't offer the ability to switch between the two.

Inverted for anything 1st person on consoles, non-inverted for anything on the pc. Except flight/space sim games of course. That would be a world gone mad.

I haven't got the time for the regressive hypnotherapy that would be needed to find out why.

I hate to bump this, but I would like at least 500 of you to give voting results. I am not in it for the badges, but my buddys have been giving me crap for weeks and I want to put them in their places! So poll votes would be just fine, thanks Escapists!

PC = Non-Inverted.
Consoles = Inverted. Seriously, Silent Hill Homecoming had no option to invert the Y axis during combat, making me have to forget YEARS of muscle memory. How hard is it to multiply Y by -1?

For flight sims: I use my SideWinder and I LUUUURRVE it.

Non-inverted beacuse i hate flying games because I have never played a decent flying game, tetris ftw !
You should try Flight Simulator X (or 2004 if your machine is a bit older). Amazing flying games, especially with a decent joystick

I love handing the control over to my friends while its inverted, and watching them struggle.

They also get mad at me when I change the inversion during an online match with them, because it pauses the game for them too.

non inverted. inverted always had me doing too much thinking (and too much dying). my brain just doesn't work that way, if at all.

I started out with inverted when I played on my friend's PS2, but once I got my own console I realized that non-inverted just felt right. More intuitive for me, at least.

Also, 500th post. Neat.

I never do, but I have a buddy who inverts. He says it's like controlling a character by grabbing the hair in the back of their head to make them look where he wants.

Inverted has always felt right. Like the analogue stick is one end of a pivot, your view being the other end.
For PC, though, i don't invert.

1st Person: Non-inverted.

3rd Person: Inverted.

Playing through Assassin's creed one, I had the camera inverted. But it was inverted for 1st person too, so whenever I switched over to eagle vision, I always had to mess around with it for a minute before I realized its inverted.

I used to play inverted when I was younger, but I've just gotten so used to non-inverted.

Non inverted, makes more sense to me
Funny you should touch on flight sims, i was flying the...thing? in AC2 and having it inverted was weird at first but when i tried un-inverted it felt so unnatural, not sure why as i've always thought of it as the opposite

wow thats a lot of inverted out there... some say its better for strafing headshots but I guess its just down to what you've gotten used to over the years.
