Bad for you might not be Bad for someone else, we all have our tastes and I for one think 4chan is not that bad...been there...disturbing images but not bad.

I go on there often, usually just as a /b/ lurker to watch the more entertaining threads pan out. The Escapist is awesome but sometimes it's nice to see a place more lax on rules. The main thing that makes me dislike being there is the structure, or rather, lack of it. It's not a user friendly forum, whereas here has a really good user interface.
This. I go there, and at times, its actually quite funny, but the interface sucks.

It's all good... Except for /b/. It suffers from cancer.

But otherwise it's, as I've already said, all good.

--Xvito, keeping it excellent.

The worst thing about 4chan is the incessant need people feel to talk about it elsewhere.

All I've heard is that it's where most trolls come from.

I've also heard that no ones gone there and come back alive

But it's dangerous to go alone take this ( insert a random picture of troll repellent )

Remember this is just what I've heard not my opinion

I had never heard of 4chan until I came here, so I guess I wouldn't know, nor do I really care.

I didn't understand what you meant by "inappropriate", so I voted for "I don't give a __". Why don't you add a "no" option, seeing as, if anyone is like me, they won't think anything is inappropriate to joke about.

Eh, I don't like it. A fair amount of the users that I have seen are racist assholes.
Pro-tip: 90% of the "racists" on /b/ aren't actually racist.

I like 4chan, but some people can't handle what they see on /b/.
The other boards are mostly safe though.

4chan, especially /b/, is like Lord Byron: Mad, bad, and dangerous to know. It's the festering boil on the ass of the Internet.

Compared to The Escapist it is like the KKK.

I just don't like it, there is no point to the website.
It's nothing like the KKK, that's a terrible comparison, you could at least fill in with a reason why you think that.

There are also plenty of reasons for that website, every board is one big reason.
Oh I'm sorry, have I offended you or something? Good lord calm down, I promise not to insult the precious 4chan.

Compared to the Escapist which has friendly, civilized, nice people. 4chan is a bunch of asshole, douchebag, pretend racists who are looking for some free porn pictures. Perhaps not comparable to the KKK, but another terrible group to that effect.

On the Escapist you discuss things, you have civilized chats about everyday things. On 4chan you post a picture and everyone say OMG or something to that effect, thus there is no point.

No, you hadn't offended me and I was just asking for a reason as to why you said what you said.
I thought it was a terribly sweeping statement, tarring the whole of 4Chan with the same /b/rush.
If you look elsewhere other than random, you will actually find decent discussions. Just not on /b/ which is usually plagued with random crap, but that's the idea of /b/ itself.

Also, please don't assume I was being all defensive and white knighting 4chan, I just wanted your reasons for such a statement.

It's understandable really, last I remember 4chan was the 5th largest community on the web. I think. It's only surpassed, in terms of size, by the internet giants like youtube, facebook, and juggworld. One can no more talk about the internet without mentioning 4chan at some point than they could talk about the history of warfare without mentioning WW2.
