Hello smurfs,

I just asked this girl out. Everything was going great, but then she said something very unexpected... I said I'd SMS her about when we should meet and where. She replied please don't as I'm no good with the phone messaging.

Now i realize that if we were of 40 years old or so this would not be so big of an issue... But she is 17 and i am 18. Tell me escapists... Would this be a big deal for you?
You are making an assumption that she has had access to the technology from the same time you have. And you referred to it as SMS while most people who don't speak "Technobable"; but as to your question I would say no.

I've never heard of anyone use SMS as a replacement for the word text/message, so I can understand her confusion. But I'd still say it's definitely a plus for me if someone knows about technology/gaming.
it's actually a widely used term, most countries that aren't america use it because that's what they are called SMS not text

By all means it's handy to be able to text (which is why I've made an active effort to learn how to do it efficently) but I wouldn't think less of someone based on their technical competance (it would be a bit of a double standard on my part since I'm fairly technologically illiterate myself).

To the OP, let go of your pickle and let it go, there are worse things that a person can do than not know how to text.

some people simply don't like messaging with text, they prefer words. something that is not emotionless piece of graphics. voice is important thing. (i atleast prefer calling to sms any time.)

In my experience, in the US, france, and Canada it's been text/texto (thats france). I was just trying to see why she would get confused. Terminology is often a reason for that.

Huh? You're really basing a relationship decision on whether she can text? Really?

Anyway, I've never even heard anyone say SMS, so I don't know what you're talking about.
