Like most series; the makers run out of good ideas and just make the "most" of their stupidest running gags.

Like when they hurt their knee for one in FG...
Takes soooo long, and it wasn't funny in the first place!

Hooray, i thought i was just growing out of the jokes. Turns out the consensus is that it blows. That is comforting.

No, it's just getting more and more popular, and as we know, the more people things are, the more the escapist hates it.

I for one love family guy and after watching the 1st season (which was filled with shitty voice acting and worse animation), I'd say it's just getting better.

First season was crap. As some time I ago I tried to watch it but I couldn't bear to watch the episodes from it.

The later seasons improves it right away but it's always been a hit and miss on episodes for me. Still have plenty of fun things in it.

Oh and Chris has like always been a retard. But There is one episode quite later on when he's actually the cool guy but that ended as well.

I still love the Starwars version of Family Guy are awesome.

That's what I mostly hear from people, that the first two seasons were the best.

I've noticed a definite increase in filler gags over the past few years. I think Seth Macfarlene and his crew are simply running out of material. That's the problem when you have a show with such specific humor. It's hard to write enough new material for it. Most shows that last a long time have more generalized themes, like sitcoms. Family Guy is all about random, out-of-place, off-the-wall jokes. It can get old if you don't find new ways to execute that kind of humor (which there aren't many choices for to begin with).

Going downhill? Buddy, it was already downhill when it started. It's only been faceplanting harder and harder with each season and repetitive fucking madlibs.

Was a Simpsons ripoff ever on the hill?

I don't hate Family Guy, I like to watch it but some "gags" are so overused and completly not funny that it hurts just to look at the tv screen. The chicken fight comes to mind. The scene goes on for nearly 2 minutes and that is roughly 1/10 of the whole screen time. And it is not funny, it is completly out of context and uninspired. Then there are those stutter moments. Boy, this has gotten really old. If they try to explain something they always start to stutter.
But don't get me wrong, I still enjoy FG.

Also: College Humor explains it all.

Agreed. I think that some of the jokes in the more recent series rely on in-jokes, like the Giant Chicken fight etc.

This is my favourite bit out of Family Guy in general

It still has its funny moments although I do feel that it just isn't the same as some of its older episodes.
