Poll: Is Firefly Dead?

Actualy the producer said that there it wasnt impossible that he create more. He didnt say he was working on it or even had plans to do it but theres a chance!

yes it's dead and funnily enough it was the fans who killed it

the tv show came out and fox did some bad things and had it canceled, the dvd sold well so they made a film. no one went to see the film, even tho the "fanbase" was demanding more Firefly, they decided to download it or wait till it was on dvd causing the film to bomb and utterly fail at the box office.

so if they really liked and wanted the series to continue they should have spent the money and went to see it in theatres

Sad sad story. I didn't watch the show when it was on and had only started watching it on DVD after Serenity had left theaters. As soon as I finished the show I raced to pick up the DVD of Serenity, but I wasn't able to add to the box-office numbers. Really, the show never got it's chance to thrive.

I want to believe that Firefly could have have some kind of continuation. Whether it's in comics or movies, I don't care. But I'd love to see more of that wonderful universe.
And I remember reading somewhere that if Whedon got a chance, he'd make the movie non-canon, so he could pick up where the series left off.

Again, I'm right there with you. I think more comics or books would be pretty cool to see too, but if Whedon could make anymnore movies, canon or non, I would be one happy chef.

The show was a amazing, the movie almost as good, but the series as a whole has been put on the shelf. It's a shame, I still miss it, and I count being one of the first people to see the movie in pre-screenings as a highlight of the my youth, but c'est la vie. At least most of the actors have moved onto future successes. I enjoy seeing Captain Mal in Castle and Jayne in Chuck.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Joss Whedon is pretty much refusing to do anything else with Firefly, even if a network begged him, because he feels that the movie ended it as he wanted it to end.

And if Whedon isn't behind it then its not really Firefly...

Then I watched Serenity. Due to spoilers (and my lack of intelligence as to how to set those up in forums), I won't go into detail, but several events make me think that the series is dead despite the huge fanbase (other than that I thought it was pretty good).

What do you think?

In terms of the execs picking up the rights to make more the chances are zero the opportunity in terms of the events in Serenity. Well no, the TV series almost had the chance to end in a way that would have directly lead to the movies start but the last episode didn't end the way I thought it would, in essence it didn't lead directly to the movie's start.

They could do a Cowboy Bebop, that TV series ended in a way that said that was it but they still managed to get a movie in there by setting the movie timeline within the timeline of TV series. Firefly could just set more episode in the space between the end of the first season and the movie.

Anyway it's dead so who cares now, besides Stargate Voyager... uh sorry Universe is just round the corner so that should fulfil all my space based entertainment for the next 3 or 4 years.

im so sad that it died. i thought it was great! serenity was really cool too, but i just knew that it was the last part of a once brilliant show.
