Geographically it's in both.
Physically its mostly in Asia (although it sits on the "Eurasian Tectonic Plate" which further confuses the problem)

However, most of the Population is in the European bit with cities like Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd etc.

So after all that, I can safely say, without a shadow of a doubt that!

From what I hear, it's in both. There's European Russia and Asian Russia.

True it's in both, or you could just say it's on Eurasia because it spans so much. Eurasia could also be considered it's own continent.
If so, what else is in eurasia?
If you looked at it as one continent then ever country in Europe and Asia is in Eurasia.

This. There is a very small (at least when compared to the rest of Russia) portion of the country that is in Europe. I'll find a map when I'm feeling less lazy.

I would say Asia, if someone said "somewhere in eurasia" I would personally slap them as this means NOTHING! the fact that it includes a good 1/4 of the world doesn't help besides I thought the whole point of continents was to generalise the location of land mass

I put it this way...something like 90% of the population of Russia live West of the Urals, besides sooner or later China will take the Eastern bit and this problem will be resolved militarily.

Politically and economically, Europe since most of populated Russia is the far western boarders. Landmass wise I'd say it's "Eurasia".

Ah. So its europe then.
Technically, it's both.

The country of Russia has parts in both the continents. From what I know of Russian population distribution though, hardly anyone lives in the Asian part, mostly because the majority of it is Siberia. It's rather... inhospitable.

Long story short, the answer to your question is Yes.

Europe
Russia as we know today developed out of a monarchy based in Moscow and everything west of the Ural is a more or less recent(relative to the total age of the country) addition

It's seperated from Asia by mountains I think.
Ah. So its Europe then.
It's in the area of Asia, but, as stated, it's separated from Asia major by mountains. That said it's linguistically and culturally different in very big ways from both Asia and Europe. I always just counted Russia as it's own thing. It's certainly big enough.

I asked all the geography teachers in my school and they couldn't answer.
WHAT??? Geography TEACHERS couldn't answer that? Just what kind of school are you attending? Like, no offense, but I just have to know.
dude, it's the states..thinks i have encountered over there that people thought:

- europe is a country
- we all speak french
- hitler is allive and kickin'
- mo electricity
- texas is larger then europe
- best one, also by a teacher: he argued since the czech republic is on the other side of the world, the leaves of the treas would fall upwards in the sky when winter comes. i felt literal physical pain when he presented that theory to me in all seriousnes.

West of the Urals = Europe
East of the Urals = Asia

At least that's what school taught me.

Both. It starts in Europe and is separated from Asia by the Ural Mountains. Though most people live on the European side because Siberia is very cold.

Mostly in Asia geographically.
Also, if you actually asked your geography teachers and they didn't know they are fucking stupid and I literally fear for your education.

How hard is it to google "continental map"?

I think it's technically both, but I consider it it's own kinda thing.

I don't say it's one or the other, just Russia. Or the Soviet Union. Or the USSR.
