Voted yes.

I stopped playing on things you buy at toy stores when I was 12. Gaming has grown up with my and so has my hobby. PC only.

Yes, the PC is the superior platform. Does this make console gamers inferior? No. They just either can't afford an up-to-date PC setup or choose to play consoles anyway.
I love my PC, I wouldn't go back to consoles for the world, but the majority of people such as myself don't 'look down upon' console gamers and PC elitists are few and far between.
Your the first person I have seen to actually say "they can't afford an up-to-date PC setup." Thank you, so fucking much. As some one who doesn't know shit internally of a computer the whole "make your own" doesn't click with me. So I have to go out there and buy a suitable rig, which is gonna cost me some cash, and is why I like consoles so much.

I think as of late there is a lot more tension on the internet due to this whole dark souls thing and TB's elitist approach to it. In the Thread you referenced he game off as a ass. I love TB as a commentator but some times he needs to understand that consoles are not inferior in terms of audiences enjoying it.

The whole dark souls thing is where a lot of console gamers crying "PC elitism" is coming from in recent days.

The whole fight between console and PC is stupid. Why can't everyone just shut up and enjoy their games? As a PC and console gamer this is getting to the point where its just obnoxious, its like watching two kids who your friends with fight to the point where you can't bring them around each other.

So what is the Poll looking like? (I'm not a PC gamer so I won't vote).

The Elitists do exist yea, Theres one user in particular who hasn't actually showed up in this thread yet who gets really defensive about it.

I can see why PC gamers can be vocal, I mean they don't get certain games and certain ports either don't hold up or are not using the power they have available. I don't think many are irrational enough to view Console gamers as lesser beings though.

I obviously think the console is a less good gaming platform, but I do not think that people who play console games are worse than us. They simply can't afford, don't want to play on a platform that probably doesn't have any of their friends or just prefer lounging back on the sofa whilst playing games than the less comfortable chair and desk setup you have to have for a PC.

Read the poll wrong and voted yes. However, I don't not view them as lesser gamers, so I really vote no.

I view the consoles as having lesser games.

The pc can do everything the console can do, only with a better control system and better graphics. Then, the pc can do aloud of stuff that consoles don't, RTS games and hardcore sims.

This is why I play of pc, I love me a FPS, but I also love the Total War games and flight sims.

A good gaming pc cost more than a console, but you get more back out of it, IMO. PC is the cutting edge of gaming technology.

That does not mean console games are not as good as me, it just means I'm willing to pay more for a better overall gaming experience, IMO.

Better platform? Yes. Better gamers? No. The platform has no coloration on how good or "inferior" someone might be at games.

I am currently typing this on a gaming-focused PC, so I consider myself a PC gamer. I also consider myself a console gamer, so this might not apply to me, but I am still going to post here anyway, dammit!

The way I sees it is that there is a very vocal minority of "PC Elitists" on the site, some of which have in the thousands of posts. I think this gives the impression that many of the PC gamers here are elitists, but most are not. We just have a vocal minority, as the poll shows.

I've never been keen on gaming on consoles, but that doesn't mean I dislike or even hate people that do enjoy it. That just seems daft and stupid.

Regardless of my own personal feeling towards the console as a platform I still consider the console playerbase as gamers in the same way I consider myself as one.

Different strokes for different folks.

Well, I play the PC for a few reason: I prefer the mouse and keyboard, it's easier to get indie/online games, steam is cheap and convienent, my Xbox is a broken piece of shit, a quicksave button.

But if people like consoles, they can play 'em.

Cause consoles are the mass market media that has cheapened the entire games industry. Making a great game now a days is more about generating mass market appeal, like all those generic movies designed to maximize ticket sales. Take no risks, water everything down, make it pleasing to as wide an audience as possible.

No thanks.

I don't see what's wrong with PC elitism because the 90's and the first half of the 00's was the end of the golden era before gaming went mainstream and we have geriatrics playing the wii. It has little to do with the format and is much more about what kinds of people, what kind of money- and consequently what kinds of garbage games, these formats ushered in.

Well that's from a ZP video and it was making fun of PC gamers anyway.

YES THAT IS TOTALLY THE CONSOLES FAULT IF ONLY THE FIRST CONSOLES OF THE XBOX 360 PS3 and WII WEREN'T EVER RELEASED. Gaming not being mainstream in the 90's? Consoles only have garbage games? Go watch some AVGN video's on console history or something, or at least research something before you make claims like that, because Super Mario Bro.'s 3 is a game from 1990 which also coincidentally is the best selling video game of all time. On top of that, there was a hardware war in the 80's which was a joke of the NES v. Genesis, and yet the NES sold more just because its games were better, sure there was a tech advantage on the Genesis but it never seemed to manifest in much beyond a couple games. That seems to be the case here, PC players want to feel justified for paying much more for the same game with a few more features so they bash on Consoles for not having 64 players on BF3 or a lower framerate, things that the average person won't really notice or care about.

Truth is gaming was mainstream ever since the 80's, consoles were around just as long as gaming PC's were if not before. And there have always been console ports of games, like say Civ 2 on the Playstation 1, or Doom on the SNES or Sega CD.

I hate PC elitists. I hate console elitists.

There are advantages and disadvantages to each and its peoples choice which they want to use. Feeling you are superior to people who choose the other is frankly, childish.

That happens to every successful media though...

TV
Music
Movies
Books

All these things have areas completely devoted to mass market appeal, it's an unavoidable consequence of popularity.

Consoles are not a part of this.

Hell, decades ago, Nintendo freakin' stopped the game industry from completely collapsing. Who knows where the industry would be today without them, if it would exist at all.

I view the console as the inferiour platform. Less raw power, worse controls (since I can pretty much plug in anything and play), worse backwards compability.

But this is just hardware. Console gamers are just people who chose a different platform. And their choice makes them not "lesser gamer" than myself or anyone.
My thoughts, to the letter.

Anyone that thinks they're better for how they play games needs to sort out their priorities, big time.

Do you view the mobile games as "lesser games"?

If so, how come? Is it because of the inferior graphics? The simpler control schemes? The relative dearth of content?

For reference, I would classify myself as a "hardcore gamer." I play turn-based strategy games, Baldur's Gate, and Nethack. I also play Dark Souls, Castlevania, and Metal Gear Solid. Oh, and on mobiles, I enjoy a good game of Battle for Wesnoth now and again.

In sum: Consoles are to PCs what portable systems are to consoles, and what iPhones are to portable systems: Less-advanced, simpler devices which cater to a less-advanced, simpler type of experience. While there are deep, engaging experiences to be found on the platform, the majority simply do not qualify. If that makes me a PC "elitist," so be it.

It exists, but now it's meaning has been twisted by insecure console gamers to mean "anyone who dares to point out any advantage a PC may have over a console, no matter how calmly or rationally explained, even if it is a completely objective and true statement".

as i keep saying to others i wont deny that the pc is superior i agree. but i prefer the console for certain types of games and the pc for others. first persons games i play on either the same for third person. rpg's i play on both. rts's are pc exclusive for me. point and click are also pc exclusive. i prefer a controller for platformers (i know they are available for the pc too) it all comes down to the genre of game for me.

that said i dont like it when people are constantly cramming down its superiority over the consoles and how im an idiot for not just buying a controller for my pc and be done with consoles. (yes i have gotten replies like that on other sites..makes me sick) and besides. my mind is made up. i plan on building ,or just buying a prebuilt, gaming pc one day and will probably be spending most of my gaming on that (skyrim on pc will blow my ps3 version out of the water just like fallout 3 did.)
