Creepypasta is by definition fake, and its only purpose is to freak out people who read it.

So while it's not stupid to think it's creepy (that's the whole point), it is pretty stupid to believe it's true.

I did not mean it was true. I was just thinking the stories were in the same setting. Who the hell would believe they were true?

Creepypasta is just the modern version of telling ghost stories around a camp fire. It is fiction and does not "exist" in any universe.

Slender Man is just a Meme created on the Something Awful website and as is the way of netheads he started appearing all over the place because that is how memes happen (and I admit to guilt here - I texted nonsense paranormal show "most haunted" telling them that I had seen a strange slender man on one of the web cams to see if I could get him on telly.)

I meant is it in one setting, like Star Wars.

Eh, must've misread the topic. My apologies.

On the 'same setting' thing, in a way that's true, since all creepypasta is basically horror fiction set the normal world. While it's all fiction, it's supposed to be written as if it happens for real, so the setting is (almost) always 'the real world'. Also, many writers borrow story elements from existing horror stories and/or other creepypasta, which explains why some of them share certain elements.

In fairness, it is all fiction. But that would suggest that there is some sort of canon behind creepypasta which would, in turn, suggest some sort of cohesive effort in creating it. Which I personally consider to be nonsense.

what is creepypasta?
OT: i dont believe in gohst stories, so im going to say yeah.
It's a play on the term "copypasta", which is it self a 4chan term for text that gets copied over and over again (copy + paste = copypasta, hilarity ensues, that wacky 4chan, etc). Which is basically what those are, only creepier, hence "creepypasta".

No, not really. Well, maybe.

Actually, yeah it is considering they're all fictional but I do believe in ghosts.

I have my reasons.

GRR!

Sorry, I didn't mean to say ghost stories are REAL. Just, they might be in one universe!

Not meaning they are real. They just might be in the same setting.

I think I get what you mean. But yeah I think even if it wasn't originally intedned to be that way, it could make for some interesting interactions between different story's characters.
