I very much doubt that this gen is coming anywhere to a close. Mainly because we are starting to see "new" things coming out. We have the Move for the ps3 and kinect for xbox plus the new slim model. And not only that we also have a lot of social and entertainment additions to make it a more central part of your entertainment system.
Plus at the moment the tech is pretty much at its best right now. You probably wont see another console for at least a few more years.
Also the xbox has a laundry list of exclusive games. Such as the Halo series and Gears 3 and several others. But thinking about it on a marketing standpoint any developer would want to release on multi platforms to increase their sales wich will then turn to finance new game development. So while exclusivity may be dwindling we will see a lot more interesting games. Both for the consoles and for downloads. (IE Limbo and other indie games).

No It's not going to die out. there are lots of great games coming out for it. although im not liking that some 360 only games are coming out for the ps3.

If only capitalism was so infallible that good profit is always correlated with consumer satisfaction. I don't care all that much about Microsoft nor any company's profits (unless they are on the brink of foreclosure) but the consumer and the games, they come first.Snarky Username said:

Well seeing as these problems have plagued the XBox 360 since its release and it still is selling huge numbers of consoles, I would say that people really don't care as much as you think they do. For the XBox 360 to be "done" something would have needed to change in the equation, and it appears that nothing has as of yet. There so far is no reason to assume that the XBox is dying. If those issues were really that detrimental to the XBox, one would think that the XBox would have died a long time ago. The PS3 has always had better graphics and better exclusives compared to the XBox, but that hasn't seemed to damper sales as of yet.Treblaine said:

I think it's absolutely done as a console for EXCLUSIVES. All the exclusive franchises are coming to a close, and more and more production companies are heading to the ps3 as a production platform. The 360 market is of course bigger than the ps3 market, so multiplatform games will rule, but I think where 360 is losing it's exclusives, PS3 will keep gaining them, and that might give PS3 an upper hand.

I think you need to realise how well the PSP is doing in japan. It's really outselling EVERYTHING over there, it's on a rampage. That's why they don't really bother with the west when it comes to PSP. the PSP right now is basically producing games that sell extremely well in Japan, while they, for SOME reason which noone could possibly fathom, are not caring that much about the five people in the west who own a PSP =PGaming King said:

We are far from the close my friend. The 360 is most likely going to be running for four more years, especially with the introduction of the Kinect. You don't pour money into a project like that to just turn around and release a new console.IceStar100 said:

Final Fantasy (sort of), Metal Gear Solid, GTA. Just a handful of former Sony exclusives that can now be found on multiple systems.
Mass Effect, Bioshock are two games that have begun appearing on PS3's now as well (Bioshock a ways back now but still valid point).

Not even close. There have been some excellent exclusives like Gears, Alan Wake, Halo series, Crackdown series,Metro 2033, Left 4 Dead series, and that is just what I can think of off the top of my head. With the PS3 losing MGS, I don't see the 360 ending anytime soon.

To the OP, if you seriously its dying out, then why did it release a game only 7 days ago that pulled in $200 000 000?

And don't get me started on the motion control support.
Additional edit- If halo Reach ever does get ported (yea, yea, I know the Microsoft owning rights stuff, but still, be open minded) It would get a decent run through, as i know plenty of PC gamers who are curious to see the game but lack a 360. And thats the same for PS3 owning friends.
Porting is NOT a disadvantage of a console, its a way to "share the love" of the game.
