I totally agree with them, it's the damn way it should be.

And it'd be a great idea, the little fuckers are designed to kill you, everybody knows it, they even advertise it, but everybody who uses'em in the first place is too addicted to say "Screw this!"

Skimming through that article I saw a few things.

1. They have a quote from a Blizzard press release warning that cheating in any form of the game will result in a ban

2. The have giant text saying ?The company already had our money so they didn?t care about our accounts.? out of context. In the article the user who got banned for cheating said that, about a different experience with a different game.

3. They have a person from the cheat developing website question the legality of the action. No outside sources or anything, just a biased article using out of context quotes from the cheater.

Cheaters broke the EULA, Blizzard enforced it. Nothing surprising, nothing absurd.

If I wanted to make a meth lab in my kitchen, but I didn't intend to sell or give any away to anyone should the cops just leave me alone?

I have to agree with you. Banning cheaters in multiplayer is obviously a very good thing. Single Player on the other hand does not effect anyone except that one person so fucking with that is no good reason to basically make someone's 60 dollar purchase worthless.

While I do agree that banning someone for using single-player-only cheats is a bad thing, I'm going to be blunt and say that you're completely overreacting.

Here's what's most likely going on: Blizzard's system is designed to detect programs that function as exploits (a trainer falls under this qualification). Because of this, the system automatically flags the account using said trainer, and is automatically suspended. Frustrating, arguably wrong, but understandable.

What Blizzard should do here is change the detection system to look for exploits ONLY for online servers, while letting SP gamers do their thing.

This is certainly no reason to stop supporting Blizzard. Worse comes to worse, beat the game the old fashioned way; by the rules.

What this guys said, I'm sure it was all just some mistake and blizzard is going to be working on it.

The only difference between cheating offline and cheating online is user discretion, not an enormous software hurdle. In order for Blizzard to distinguish if a player cheated online only, offline only, or both, they would need to examine all of that players games on a per game basis. It is much more efficient to ban at the first sign of any ban, which they are allowed to do: the EULA that all players agree to says that if they cheat in any form, they can be banned from Starcraft 2, or from all Battle.net features.

No, I'm not going to stop supporting Blizzard. I get sick and tired of people who break the rules and then blame the authority figures when they get punished for it. It's not like you weren't warned guys! Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but these cheat applications don't just apply to the Single Player Campaign or AI skirmishes.

Sorry, but when it's in the EULA you're just out of luck. I'm sure they're not about to bend on that, even if it's just single player.

The only point where I was considering jumping off was when they tried the whole "Yeah, we're gonna display your real name on the forums now" crap. Thank god they reversed direction on that one.

Gee, perhaps you shouldn't download a program from a source outside Blizz that changes the game mechanics to give you an advantage, even if it's just to learn against an AI. I thought this was about Blizz banning people for using cheat codes like the ones in WC3, but anyone getting upset about having their account suspended for adding a trainer program needs to get a life and learn to play the old fashioned way: Trial and Error

Also, a lot of people don't see to get why people cheat in SP. Perhaps they were farming achieves (I fucking doubt it, who gives a shit about gamerscores or whatever?) but the REAL fun of cheating is bending the software and being able to see things you never would have been able to. I agree that Multiplayer cheating is always bad sportsmanship though.

And in response to anti-boycotters, don't defeat yourselves yo. You really really really do have the power to vote with your dollar. I understand why the article brought up doesn't mean enough on it's own to convince most, but Blizzard has been a little mean to its paying customers lately and when they're owned by Activision, pretty much the ONLY way they'll listen is to talk money to them. No need to campaign for Blizzard's destruction, but just let them know we're a little cross about some of their behaviour.

And I'd love to see you try to play Diablo III without activating it first.

Easy, some of the pirates out there are fairly clever, and if its possible with Starcraft 2 (which it is) I doubt Diablo will be different.

Ok I agree maybe they shouldn't have banned them, but they had full legal right to do so. If Blizz dosen't want people using third party add-ons in single player for SC2, I'm pretty sure you signed a contract user agreement saying you wouldn't.

Besides, Blizz built in a lot of cheats into the game. I'm not exactly sure what the third party ones accomplish, but the ones blizz already has are pretty cool. If I want to cheat I do it because its a lot of fun to get a billion marines and crush some poor zerg camp...why use cheats from a third party when there are already cheats there? (That's a questions, not sure why people did it)

Besides OP, overreact much? It's not like they banned everyone from SC2 and shut it down forever for this...seriously.

One of the comments in that article brings up a good point.

If you're cheating in an off-line match against AI bots with no damage to human players, than banning you for this is downright bogus.

The person who believes it is his own business willingly signed an EULA giving Blizzard the right to ban him.
