Officer it's not printed on my car, and I bought the car fair and square, I should be able to drive on whatever side of the road especially on my block because I bought it.

There's in game cheats that do the same things except don't abuse the achievement system that some people work for. If you aren't willing to work for stuff then you don't get stuff, it really is that simple.

If you really must use these 3rd party cheats, why not go the whole hog and play it offline (use a cheat to get around that since you're already cheating) and then cheat to your hearts content? This way you're not breaking the EULA in a way that blizzard can get mad because you're not cheating to get stuff, you get your cheating fix and you get to cheat all you want.

Everyone has to follow the EULA not just cheaters, they're the ones breaking it and getting angry.

Third party software. Blizzard aren't THAT thick. Thus, they were unbalancing the game by unlocking a bunch of achievements, which affects multiplayer.

Sure, achievements don't mean that much, but people are still messing with their creation.

Besides, you have an invulnerability cheat and a bunch of others...Why would you need any more?

There's cheats to give you all the minerals you need, remove defeat conditions, and become an unstoppable god.

Why do people do a variety of things when there are other options? Why do people use the Game Genie when they could use the controller Contra code? Maybe because it's just more fun to use cheats that aren't authorized.

That Blizzard added cheat codes doesn't invalidate cheat codes from other sources. If Blizzard had not added their own codes, would it really change many opinions on this issue?

Here's the thing, there's a EULA, if you violate the EULA, you're at fault and you get the consequences. You chose to buy the game, if you decided to violate them then that's your fault. There's no arguing it, you agreed to their terms and then willingly violated them.

The EULA is not legally binding.

I fail to see how, they laid out terms, you agreed to them, you broke them, you get to buy your game again good day sir.

Well, for one thing agreeing to the EULA is simply clicking and that can only be done after the game is purchased and opened, which at that point it cannot be returned.

If your CD key is unused, and you disagree with the EULA of any game, call them and demand your money back and let them void your CD key.

CD keys can be voided without giving them your physical copy.

I'm simply surprised it took till page 4 to have it said the EULA doesn't mean shit. Hell, that was like the fifth post of the other thread about this today.

Although I agree the EULA serves no actual legal purpose, it is used to set official unofficial ground rules that you can expect to be banned for breaking. Thats why I said the EULA is "more than enough" for Blizzard to ban you, if they wanted you gone because they want your name for a personal account, you are gone and there's nothing you can do (unethical yes, but true). Cheating just guarantees that.

Nothing I could do? Sounds like I could file a lawsuit or report them to the Better Business Bureau. I've got all the legal recourse of any customer that hasn't gotten what they paid for. However, I noticed that they only ban your profile from the multiplayer (allowing you to play as guest) That sounds fine to me.

I disagree completely with the OP on this one. Cheating in a single player game is usually fine and dandy, but SC2 has a plethora of achievements that are attained through playing the single-player modes; sometimes the rewards are character portraits that some people place a lot of value on.

I'm with Blizzard for the most part on this one. Accounts that get hacked and banned, however, should be investigated (without the owner's knowledge, so as to prevent dishonesty), but people using trainers and other, simillar programs just grind my gears.

Another thing: the article mentioned someone saying "trainers provide a way for users to play the game however they want to play it. trainers are a way to play the game differently." Don't be an ass. You got caught cheating to get your stupid Tiger Marine portrait; take your licks and be a man about it. Stop using all this high-falutin' gobbledegook to tapdance your way around the issue.

No, the cheaters that are being banned are the ones that used Third Party Software, not the in-game cheats. The in-game cheats allowed you to have all kinds of perks, but at the expense of not being able to gain achievements. People who used the third party stuff could basically cheat all they wanted and get the achievements for it.

Different kind of cheats here buddy. Cheating with what the developer has given you isn't cheating. It's more like a much smaller version of Gary's mod. They didn't include them in Starcraft II, but unfortunatly, people are using 3rd party tools to cheat. And please, calm down on the name calling here. We're not 8 year old children on the play ground.

Hang on, people are getting banned for using a Trainer on SC2 and they are saying that it is un fare?

Well heres a few points on why they are retarded. And anyone else who supports them.

1. Achievements. Yeah they are in single player and they unlock Avatars used in Multiplayer. Hence no inbuilt cheats. If you cannot work out why, then please stop breathing.
2. Trainers are external programs that alter memory addresses to freeze or give unlimited numbers. IE resources, health etc. These can affect multiplayer games.
3. SC2 isnt hard. If your finding it hard, drop it down a difficulty level. If your having to cheat, then fuck me your a shitty player and DESERVE A BAN.

Guess it's lost on me since I don't give a crap about achievements. I play a game to have fun not have to work for the fun. But I get what your saying. I must have missed posts clarifying the third party software while i was posting my first rant on this thread since I've already been put out by blizzard. I agree that third party software use is BS and i disliked it being used against me in other games. In that respect, I'll acquiesce, good on them for doing something about it, but they still need to make their battlenet more secure.

I honestly don't care. They want to stick it to cheaters, then let 'em have it. Targeting Single-player cheaters kinda sucks, but, hell, they're using a 3rd party program to exploit their system. There's a difference between using cheat codes and using a third party program to hack or break the game.

So only cheat the way Blizzard allows or else? How do you feel about Gameshark, Action Replay, etc..?

Blizzard has control over the cheats that they implement. Their cheats do not negatively affect the multiplayer aspect and allow only as much as Blizzard wants them to. The other cheats allow players to run amuck however they please.

(In some areas of the world) police confiscate guns, while at the same time use them. That is because they can control the guns when they are in their hands, but not in the hands of everyone.

Okay, when I saw these "Banned over cheating" thing, I was a bit worried. ^^ Knowing that it's just a bunch of 3rd party cheats that activate it, I'm a lot more at ease with it. I know I enjoy just typing in an invulnerability cheat from time to time in the older Blizzard games and just running amok.

As for people calling boycott... Er, why? I see literally no reason to boycott Blizzard. I tried the sample of Starcraft 2 and had a BLAST playing it. If the company makes a good product, then they deserve my business. Kind of funny like that, my belief that people should get paid for something they put a LOT of money, hard work, blood, sweat, and tears into.

No, I don't believe that one pirated copy of a DS or PC game will hurt them. >_> But when one thousand self-entitled douchebags think that thought... Yeah, that could hurt them. If it's a million of those jerks? That could hurt them a LOT.

So, I'm going to give them my money when I can afford it like a loyal customer. Good products deserve my money. Starcraft 2? Christmas list. Pokemon White? Birthday list. Professor Layton? I am SUCH a whore for that series it's not even funny.

Easy, some of the pirates out there are fairly clever, and if its possible with Starcraft 2 (which it is) I doubt Diablo will be different.

I never understood the issue with online activation, in fact, I think it's hilarious when people post online, using the internet, to complain about needing the internet to do a 5 second check the first time you load a game. Whoopty do.

I'm not quite sure why you quoted me for that, I said it would easily be possible as it is for pirates (who avoid it because they want to play the game for free).

I have mixed opinions here.

On one hand I am not buying "Starcraft 2" in part because of the way it was marketed (1 3rd of the campaign).

Just a quick off-topic response, the one-third of the campaign in Wings of Liberty is longer than many standalone games.

I think that's true largely because of the sheer number of short games being produced nowadays. A lot of people in my guild in WoW play it, and while most of them are big fans, they do tend to be critical of the quality of a lot of the missions, and opinions as to the overall length of the game and value do vary. Most of them that are big supporters are kind of Starcraft Fanatics in a general sense, representing the market Blizzard was counting on.

As I see things, a game should tell the complete story it's setting out to tell. This game does not. What's more, when you look into the reasons why they are splitting the game up to begin with, it comes down to pure greed. Why produce one game of epic length with a hundred or more hours of gameplay, when you can split it up into three games and sell it for more money? The fact that Blizzard is telling cocking bull stories about how it would have taken 14 years to develop all three campaigns annoys me. Especially when you consider that this means we're not going to see how things end for another decade if they are telling the truth (which I very much doubt incidently).

People try and defend this desician on Blizzard's part, especially fanboys, but really I don't think it's a defensible position. Your not alone in talking about the game's relative length, but given that today there are increasing numbers of games that clock in at only 5-10 hours (or even less) when it comes to single player, that doesn't say much. Especially seeing as a lot of the playtime pretty much comes down to replaying missions at increased difficulty levels for the bragging rights/blizzscore rather than experiencing new content.
