Jedi versus Protoss High Templar. High Templar releases psionic storm and tears the Jedi into tiny little bits.

Jedi versus Terran Ghost. Ghost calls down nuclear warhead while cloaked and the jedi gets incinerated.

Jedi versus Cthulhu. Jedi goes completely insane and his head explodes.

As I think about it now, Jedi versus any kind of explosive projectile equals a dead jedi. Their response to projectile attacks is to deflect it with the lightsaber, you can't deflect explosive. Especially if it was one of the military types that is programmed to explode just before it hits the target so he'd get his lightsaber up to block and it explodes before it gets there and showers him with deadly shrapnel.

Plenty of jedi fell at the hands of the yuzzhan vong during their attack on the galaxy during the new jedi order series.

Jedi Vs Tetsuo from AKIRA. Somebody so powerful they're either sent back in time to die and be the Big Bang, or an alternate universe to so his death throes don't wipe out all of us.

Jedi Vs Akira, from AKIRA: A guy who can regenerate 20 years later after being cut down to a couple of frozen nerve tissues.

Surprised none of you guys mentioned those two.

Jedi vs Tommy Gun: Maybe. Slicing the bullets turns them into molten bad.
Jedi vs DESERT EAGLE: Almost definitely. See above, but with MOAR stopping power and without the accuracy of a Klobb from Goldeneye.
Jedi vs Flamethrower/Napalm: take a guess.

unless the jedi goes bullet time on your ass.

I'm not a superfan of starwars, but wouldn't the jedi just catch said projectiles with the force? If you think about it, RPGs and rockets don't usually go as fast as bullets do, which is why I didn't mention them in my post above.

While I think that many of you are drastically underestimating the abilities of Jedi Masters (Look at Luke Skywalker in later books) I do think that they can be beaten.

One of my favorite scenarios is if a crazy rift thing opened up and the Star Wars universe had to have it out with the Imperium of Warhammer 40,000. Libarians (Or even Farseers/Warlocks if you want to branch out) vs. Jedi would be badass.

Also the first Jedi who tried to block a bolter shot with a lightsaber would be hilarious.

They would catch it with the force if they realized what it was. But since their traning seems to boil down into deflect lasers, push robots, and slash things. I doubt they would be ready to face their first explosive weapon. I'm pretty sure that if they caught it with the force that would register as an impact and the rpg would explode and I doubt they have enough control to stop all the shrapnel or be strong enough to contain the explosion.

Mostly I think their first reflex would be to just slash it, which would then cause it to explode and they would be shredded by hot shards of metal and doom.

Just came up with someone who is actually in a book that would take on Jedi no problem without even having to try. Of course that goes for anyone who tries to fight this character.

Jessica Sorrow aka The Unbeliever, from the Nightside novels. She subscribes to the whole "Reality is just a dream" nonsense, except for her it's real and when she unbelieves in something she wipes it out of existence. The physical world has no hold on her, so everything she touches rips like wet paper. She would own jedi like nobodie's buisness.

From the same books

Razor Eddie, punk god of the straight razor. He moves faster than the eye can track and his razor can split the fabric of space and time.

Suzie Shooter aka Shotgun Suzie aka Oh Christ it's her!. (The future edition) The future version of Shotgun suzie has the Speaking Gun grafted onto her left arm which has the power to uncreate anything caught in it's blast. Let's see a Jedi block that with a lightsaber.

After playing the Force Unleashed demo I have to argue that if you want to take down a Jedi you better be packing some serious fire power. I'm not that deep into the Star Wars series in terms of the expanded universe and such, but if the secret apprentice is any indication then there's barely anyone out there who really stands a chance.

Only person who stands a chance and comes straight off the top of my head is Dante and/or Nero. Assuming their swords won't be instantly cut in half when hit with a lightsaber, it should turn out to be a pretty good fight.

Well, I was playing Soul Calibur 4 and I stomped Yoda with Asteroth

So I'm willing to bet they can be beaten.

But in the star wars expanded universe, it's very difficult to kill one. You'd more then likely have to outsmart it in some way, or distract it, both of which are very difficult

In knuckle to knuckle fighting, there isn't much that can withstand a lightsaber strike, especially in the Empire Era.

I'm going to have to say yes, but it would most definately take some trickery, and good trickery at that.
