You know what I'm talkin about here right? That pop or crack in your neck when you turn your head a certain way. Those little snapping sounds when you stretch your arms. Those BIG snapping sounds when you stretch and rotate your back after sitting slumped in front of a video game for hours.

How many of you do it intentionally? How many of you enjoy it? How many are appalled by it?

I've read the reason why is feels so good is that your joints release endorphins when you crack them. Which is why it's so hard to stop doing it once you've started.

On a side note, my chiropractor says the correct and safe way to crack your back is to lay on your back on the floor. Legs straight, shoulders flat. Keeping one leg straight, bend your other leg and bring it over to the side over your straight leg. Remember to keep your leg straight and your shoulders touching the floor. Repeat with the other leg. This stretches the joints to the point they pop while supporting them so they don't get over extended and nothing gets thrown out of place.

I've seen people just stand there and swing their torso around to work the kinks out of their back. Those people are in for a world of pain one day.

I crack my knuckles all the time!

... and my legs, and my arms, and my back... and once my knee... Occassionally a lymph node...

OT: I love cracking various joints... It spices up boring lectures in class!

Neck, back, Sternum (somehow, I don't want to know, it just happens), shoulders, elbows, wrists, knuckles, knees and toes. It's like the heads shoulders knees and toes song except you can use it to create loud sounds that make half the class shudder at quiet moments in the day.

You're quite right. But your joints clicking too much is a symptom of arthritis which is where that urban myth comes from.

I thought it was a potential sign, not a cause.

OT: I can only crack my two forefingers, and I fucking hate it.

All of my knuckles, both backwards and forwards.
My back.
My neck.
My knees do it if I sit down or crouch for ages.
My shoulders and elbows do it when I first get up.
My hips occasionally if I've been running a lot.

I crack my back. I've had constant back pain since I was 10. It's nice to not have pain for a little while. I've started doing my ankles in the morning, too.

I crack my back, neck, and fingers constantly.

Last year, as I waited for a teacher to prepare for my speech, and I cracked all my fingers simultaneously on a kind of shoddy wooden desk. Resonated through the entire room.

Freaked half the class out, made the other half laugh or applaud. Why they applauded for cracking my joints I don't know, but it was funny.
