I'll sometimes go slightly out of my way to earn an achievement, but I'm not an achievment hunter. Though I will actively pursue them if I'm near 100%, unless I decide the final achievement is impossible enough to not be worthwhile (see portal(xbox360) - out of the blue achievement).

According to my profile, my GS is 16,018. Oddly specific number...

Anyway, it will continue to arbitrarily climb while being studiously ignored by me. The day I relegate game enjoyment to a number that no one sees, it will be the day to pack up the Xbox. (Same goes for the PS3 and its bizarre, other-worldly trophies.)

Can someone please explain why GS is so vital? I understand getting certain achievements for unlocks etc. but hunting for and *grinding* out others purely to increase a meaningless number, what's the point?

Before I sold my X-Brick there were time I'd be playing CoD4 and occasionally people I was doing better than would hurl abuse at me on the basis that I had a lower GS than they and therefore I must have been cheating. I realise that's not the mentality of most people on XBL but it certainly wasn't a one-off.

i have 180.000G over 3,5 years on the xbox (mostly because i play Anything, i look in bargain bins, borrow games at my Libary and trade games too)
im still loking for a GOOD platformer on the Xbox 360 and i still havent found one that is near the games i played in the 90.-

What does gamerscore do? I've never played a 360, but I've seen many discussions bringing it up.

It makes your Epeen grow and you have a better place for you set in Microsoft heaven when you die.....Yeah nothing its just kinda fun things to go for in each different game

I've got 20290 gamerscore.

The biggest individuals chunks of that come from the Mass Effect series, Assassin creed series, and Oblivion (highest at 1220 gs), as those games are more about narrative achievements than skill achievements.

I think I'm 36000, but I might be closer to 40,000 all I know is that I'm not above 40,000.
I have a fair few games with over 1000 gamerscore, but the game with the most I think is Left 4 Dead 2 thanks to all the lovely DLC achievements.

I miss clicked , i voted 10000-15000 but i just checked and im at 18 000. I not a completionist so i rarely go outta my way to do achievements . The one exception was when i bought oblivion , it was the second game i bought on my xbox and i didnt have much money at the time so i did eery single achievement , but i loved that game to death and was dirt poor so it was worth ever minute .

This thread has probably been done a million times but there don't seem to be any recent ones so here goes.

Anyway, after about 4 years of having a 360 I've reached 10000G (although I only had 6000 around last Christmas time and I don't have Live (yet)) with Red Dead Redemption.

So firstly, what is your gamerscore, based on how many games?
And secondly, what game do you have the most gamerpoints from?

I have no idea what the typical gamerscore is so the poll might be wonky

Oh wow... it took you 4 years for that? Im about 5 years in and I have 46846. I average around 10K a year. Im a HUGE achievement whore.

Also my most is borderlands at 1665. Only missing like 5 from it. I like that game a lot

I just checked, it's 18,427. The game I have the most gamerscore in is Halo 3 with 1750. I've been meaning to get a certain 3-point achievement in The Orange Box so it's at an even increment of 5 to make up for Half Life 2's 2-point achievement.
