[Wow, you're really missing the point here, aren't you?

Go and read my original point - the reason I don't check is because I feel the number is indicative only of how many games I have had the luxury to play.

Acquiring certain achievements is a challenge, that's for sure. I just don't place any value in the overall gamerscore as it's more to do with how many games you can afford than anything else.

I'm not sure how you read that and decided to have a go at me for not checking... my Gamerscore is utterly irrelevant to what I was saying.
Funny, I didn't realize the OP was asking what our opinions on Gamerscore was....

This thread has probably been done a million times but there don't seem to be any recent ones so here goes.

Anyway, after about 4 years of having a 360 I've reached 10000G (although I only had 6000 around last Christmas time and I don't have Live (yet)) with Red Dead Redemption.

So firstly, what is your gamerscore, based on how many games?
And secondly, what game do you have the most gamerpoints from?

I have no idea what the typical gamerscore is so the poll might be wonky

I don't have a 360 of my own, but Gamerscore either way is meaningless to me. Even amazingly high numbers are worthless, honestly. The points are arbitrary and there's no way to tell if you got 1000 GS in 10 minutes of The Last Airbender or hundreds of hours of something else. You have to dig through all their achievements and that's just a time waster.

Honestly, I care about achievements, but not the way anyone's implemented them yet. I want a simple system: no numbers, no points, not even an overall achievement count. Give me the ability to show off maybe my favorite 10 achievements on my gamercard or something. Only a few achievements ever actually felt like I accomplished something other than wasting time or grinding, so give me a way to communicate the ones I liked.

I breached 40,000 the other day. I have 1,230 points in TES IV: Oblivion and just need that "Duke of Mania" achievement, which I've tried to get on multiple occasions but it always bugs out killing my enthusiasm.

It's not uncommon for people to express their opinion on a topic without being specifically asked to. It's a forum, it's for discussion.

I also don't remember asking for your opinion on my post.

I too recently broke the 10k barrier when I completed Dragon Age 2 :) So congrats! As someone who plays solely for fun and not very often (I'm also a girl :p) I was quite proud lol x

Poll range is too low. I have about 36000 and that's just from single player only. Multiplayers and achy whores will have waaay more.

Hell if I know. I hardly play my Xbox anymore because of my brother.
Okay, just checked, it's at 3000-ish.

I'm around 31500 in about...2-3 years. Can't remember.

By far the biggest contributor is Borderlands with a full 1750. Bioshock and AC:Brotherhood are next at 1100 a piece.

Level 12, currently at 90%.

Where's that damn trophy-achievement conversion button?
That would probably be around the 40k or so mark

OT: I have 45k-50k. I don't remember but its should be on my profile.

I'm closing in on 33k. That said, I hate gamerscore. Its so random and arbitrary, there appears to be very little rhyme or reason to how much score any given achievement is arbitrarily assigned. It certainly seems to have nothing to do with difficulty or time spent.

I generally like achievements, (not online achievements) because they can occasionally add to the game or at least its replay value but I don't get why there has to be some random number involved. I'm not sure why it cant simply list completions and show the achievements as they are without the number.
