A while ago I had the idea that karma was like a scale, if you had done good things you would be rewarded in a natural way, like luck i guess, and if you had done bad things yo would punished in a natural way like getting a parking ticket or always havinga bad server or something.

And ultimately this scale would detirmine how you were rewarded/punished, you could either be rewarded with inner peace or punished with inner conflict.

Has Karma ever applied to you or does it just seem superstitious

I believe that karma is just a mental image we apply to ourselves...

As in, if I steal, I'm a theif; If I lie, I'm a liar.

I kind of do believe in it, for example if someone pisses me off I will punch them. They will be in a bad mood because I punched them, they will take it out on friends and loved ones. I would like to believe it applies for every bit of life even though I know it would just be consequences of my opposing reaction to there dickary

I only bring up karma when it's ironically funny. Otherwise you end up being forced to accept that there's some objective universal balance that keeps track of some incredibly trivial things.

Yeah and karma has got me a few times I think. Such as not telling my parents i was out partying, my dad happening to look out the window in the morning and ask me why there are footprints on the top of my truck.

.... With my kinda of track record i think i should stop making fun of pregnant teens.

Karma is a silly thing to believe in.
Like most silly things, if you believe in it hard enough, you'll see its effects everywhere because that's what you want to see.

I don't. It's kind of like heaven and hell, I see it as a reward system, which is too good to be true.
I mean come on, you mean nature decided to reward people for being nice and punish them for being bad?

But that's....superstitiousy karma. The other karma is as The Rockerfly said.

Maybe. But probably not. I like to think the universe has a balancing method...

Am I the only one who had the song Karma Police pop into their head?

OT: Yes, I believe in Karma and I have experienced it. And I have taken Max's post into consideration. But I still believe that there is a supernatural something with a sense of right and wrong doing something. (You don't have to believe with me, it's just what I believe)

But yes, I tend to agree.
Woah, I thought that was a (emo) guy all this time. Not trying to be mean, I just thought it was a dude =(

The mystical idea of karma doesn't appeal to me, or seem logical, but there is some truth to it I guess if you look at similar ideas theoretically.

Say you are nicer to everyone you meet, they will probably feel more positive about people in general and take that positivity away with them to (possibly) act in a more optimistic or friendly manner to the next person.

What I mean is, if everyone was a little nicer, that agreeableness would probably come around to reward them in one way or another at a later date, though it would be impossible to know if your actions influenced you later on, so indirectly.

I don't believe it is a real thing, that said I do try to be as helpful, uncritical and "lawful good" in a D&D sense as possible, I just don't like being a criminal or an arsehole really...

I don't believe in Karma for the same reason that I don't believe in fate or any kind of god: I'm an atheist. If you don't know what that is, then look it up.

I don't believe in karma per se, just that your actions will bite you in the ass if you let them. It's always funny to see "karma" in effect though. Always good for a chuckle and a smile for the next hour or so.

Its a state of mind, if you have it set in your head that you've done something good and that something good will happen to you then a LOT more things are going to seem "good" then they otherwise would, same applies if you did something bad even the slightest misfortune on your part is going to seem like a kick in the ass from karma

I'm starting to think there's a hint of truth to karma. But its not just a lesson, its more of mentally ripping your ass hole open, ripping out everything you love, then vomiting you back out in a mangled heap of trash and sorrow.

Example. I skipped a day and a half of school. Out comes god-awful weather, my girlfriend dumps me, an old friend of mine hates me, etc. For the lulz, as the Internet culture would say.

'course not.
If you knew all the stuff that happens outside your little sphere you label "life", then you would see how one things comes from another.
Like, someone pisses of your girlfriend, and she's being bitchy with you.
Then again, you can't see all these things, so you should just go ahead and accept it.
As in, never, EVER accept it. Fight it at every possible turn, or you'll be just some passive idiot.

Yeah I believe that Karma is a balancing force but it works too slowly. Thats why I cook up my own revenge.

Example
Lacing your meal with laxatives.

No. Mostly because I have seen bad people live lives that they don't deserve, while some of the greatest people I know live the worst lives. I guess that's just how everything works out...

I do believe in God and that after you die, he does judge you based on your actions.
