I just got my hands on Killzone 2. Brand new collectors edition box, the one you only can get if you pre order the game on Game-stop, (off topic, The collectors edition box has the most awesome box art ever). So when i got home i ripped the game out of the box, slammed it into my Playstation (It's a 60gb) and started to play. 6 hours later my mother comes down to my gaming room and says;
"I hope you haven't forgot that we are going away today?"
So i took a peek at my watch and noticed the date, February the 25th.
That was the day we wore going on some cruise to Talin... for 3 days!
So when i sat there, in our car on the way to the boat i was slowly dying inside...
I was so close, and then i tripped, on the finish line...

Have you ever lost a gaming experience worth dying for?

Hahaha, yes.
When halo 3 was launching, I was excited to get going into the plot. I did the midnight deal, and played until I couldnt keep my eyes open.
This is because, I was heading to Churchill, Manitoba for a week of outdoor and adventure and the such. Now, I had a hell of a trip, but I mightve enjoyed it better if that damn game wasn't constantly pressing on my mind.

Yes =]
I had waited for Mario Kart Wii for ages to come back in stock after release(Stupidly I left it too late to pre order), and I so I was overjoyed to find one in stock one day. As I'm on my way home, I notice that no lights seemed to be on in our village, despite the fact it was getting dark. "Please don't let it be a power cut" I thought....

I sat at home doing NOTHING for 3-4 hours waiting for the power to come back on, just re reading the manual.... ¬.¬

Not really. I had to wait a long while to get a Wii and Twilight Princess (I'm an administrator at a large Zelda community site, so I was missing out on a lot of discussion), but it's not like I couldn't occupy myself by other means. The only thing in recent memory that's annoyed me is that when The Witcher Enhanced Edition came out, it took a good three or four weeks after its official release date for the stores in my area to start stocking it. Checking in at the stores around my campus every day got a bit aggravating.

Semi.

The day L4D came out, I raced to the shop aaaaaaaaand. Bam. None in stock. Hadn't yet arrived.

The next day, I waited around the counter for half an hour as they found the disk.

Goes to show, eh?

I feel sorry for you.
That always used to happen to me, but now I loosely plan my schedule AROUND game releases.
Also, I dont holiday with the parents so I never have to miss quality gaming if I dont want to.

On the day Orange Box was released, it also happened to be my birthday. I received said game as a present, and had just settled down to play on portal when I heard a massive boom, the likes of which I've never heard before. I had no idea what was going on, until a few minutes later, as I was steadily slipping into The Zone and getting to grips with my new Portal Gun, someone knocked on the door, dragging me out of my haven. Turns out it was a policeman, who informed me that the boom was in fact a gas canister in the garage of a house on my street that had somehow caught fire and was sending thick black plumes of smoke into the sky, which I had somehow managed to miss being so absorbed in my game. Since the garage was an amateur car workshop, and also contained several other highly volatile chemicals and equipment, everyone on the street was being evacuated as there was a high risk of further explosions.

It was quite a traumatising experience, having to leave my beloved consoles and shiny new game behind knowing the next time I see them could well be at the bottom of a smouldering crater. Thankfully, the fire was brought under control and my street was not nuked.

Fallout 3 came out and I got no sleep that day, and almost didn't make it to my class the next morning.
I remember sort of sleep walking throughout the day, until I got back home and played some more.
Similar instance almost happened with L4D but my 3 other friends were able to coax me off.

Other then that I cant really think o to many other instances.

I got freelancer while deployed to Iraq. After an incredibly long day I decided the best way to relax was to shoot some aliens with my pretend spaceship, and I get back to my living space only to find the power was out. "No matter," I thought, "It's a laptop and the battery will certainly last longer than I'll be willing to stay awake". Much to my despair, I had left the system on when I left, and the power had been out long enough that my battery was drained. Worse still, it took days to get power back, and even then I didn't have any time to play.

Yes! I was studying abroad in England during Fall of 2007 and had to wait until I got home in December until I could play my 360 again. Missed the launches of Halo, Assassin's Creed, etc.

Killzone 2 is hardly worth missing a cruise. In fact, Killzone 2 isn't worth anything.

to answer your question, no because I don't take games that seriously.
