Since we all know that better and classier people would win, I propose we change the venue of this thread in favor of cooler characters, both of whom have even been in a Death Battle. So, on that note...Chaos Isaac said:My money is on Dante.

YOU TWO!! MAKE RYU AND DANTE FIGHT TO THE DEATH!!
First, you have to tell me what that means, because I'm sure I just don't know the technical term, and then hopefully I can give you an answer.Arnoxthe1 said:Does Dante have any i-frame moves? He doesn't need I-frames, he can just get back up. But at any rate, yes he does. He has his normal Dodge Rolls, then his Trickster Style dash gives him i-frames. Some of his attacks have I-frames too, but I couldn't tell you which ones. Then he has his other various styles that gives him a doppleganger, slows time, invincible guards (if done right), crazy sword abilities and crazy gun abilities.Arnoxthe1 said:Does Dante have any i-frame moves? Invincibility Frames. Basically dodge moves that can go through attacks and come out unharmed. (Or at times attacks, depending on the series.)FalloutJack said:First, you have to tell me what that means, because I'm sure I just don't know the technical term, and then hopefully I can give you an answer.
Blasphemy! You diseased maniac; everyone knows that DanteXBayonetta is the one true pairing!FPLOON said:They would fuck... but, not the stereotypical/sexy kind of fucking, you know...
Other than that, all but them are fucked either way... so they would fuck to prevent more shit from getting fucked that shouldn't be fucked indirectly by their actions... because words won't mean as much shit as the grunting and groaning that shall follow regardless...
Well, as Ryu once said, "My strength comes through training. Not from some curse in my blood." Which is actually a little funny because he IS part of the dragon lineage, but all the same, what I mean is, he's not only naturally powerful, he's disciplined as FUCK. And holy shit, is he fast. And have you SEEN the enemies he has destroyed in NGB/II, both cutscene and actual gameplay wise? And the legendary weapons he's able to wield on top of that? Oh, and he can block bullets with his sword. Not to mention his Guillotine Throw which he can do almost immediately and it's unblockable and he can spam it if he really wants to be a cheap ass. I have to a point, I stopped paying attention around halfway of Ninja Gaiden Two, and it is fair. Ryu would be a fair opponent, but Dante can basically match anything Ryu's arsenal have or flat out tank it. Dante is already used to fighting a swordsman who can not only deflect bullets with his sword, but catch them and throw them back with the flat of his blade. It's nothing particularly new for him to face.Arnoxthe1 said:Well, as Ryu once said, "My strength comes through training. Not from some curse in my blood." And BTW, I hope Dante's backup doesn't drop essence whatsoever (very unlikely that they don't, I think) because if they do, Dante's gonna get a literally unstoppable Ultimate Technique to the face that will come out pretty much instantly since Ryu can do OLUTs (On-Landing Ultimate Technique) that will do INSANE damage. IF it doesn't kill Dante outright. And we're not even getting into Ninpo, which is also unstoppable, undodgeable, and he can initiate any old time he wants to. Multiple times.
I will at least say this. If anyone's gonna pose any sort of threat to Ryu, it may be Dante. Well, him and the Chief but only because the Master Chief has that damnable luck which seems to get him out of pretty much every situation he's landed himself into.Chaos Isaac said:I have to a point, I stopped paying attention around halfway of Ninja Gaiden Two, and it is fair. Dante can match Ryu on the level with speed, swordplay and arsenal fairly easily, and probably can best his swordplay if he really wanted to, or even his speed if he bothered to use certain styles. And that's not the extra abilities he knows and can use with his various weapons he obtains from the souls of demons.
Dante's back up doesn't exist, because Dante rolls solo and anyone else who shows up is just kinda going after their own thing. But even with that insane damage... it won't really keep up to Dante's regeneration, and the absurd amount of punishment he can take. The thing here is that Ryu is still basically easily killable despite his supernatural form he gained.
Even Ryu's OLUTs and Ninpo couldn't really down Dante, who could either nullify them outright, or stop time and just stab Ryu as he is casting. Or, in case he cannot stop it, for whatever reason, he probably could have easily fully charged his Royal Guard in the fight, and go into Dreadnaught, where he is invincible.
Ryu poses a serious danger, but, Dante has all of the answers, as well as a wink and a smile.
Well to be honest how death happens has been rather hazy in God of War. In most of the games he actually physically goes to Hades. I can't remember if Ascension had it (because that game is crap by the series' standards), but only in God of War 1 does his spirit actually leave into Hades I think. Though we're not shown that either, so it could very well be that in the God of War-verse your physical being is actually transported into Hades upon death. In 2 it's the hands in Rhodes. In 3 he falls from Mount Olympus (which I'm not sure even counts as dying, since he deliberately does that multiple times over the course of the game without batting an eye), in Chains of Olympus he just straight up travels there.Dr. McD said:For that reason I also consider Kratos more powerful than Alex Mercer. Mercer was shown at the end of [PROTOTYPE] to be able to regenerate from a single lump of flesh. Kratos can still do one better.
