Which do you prefer? I prefer desktops because they're much better for gaming.

Edit: argh, sorry about thread title.

I love my laptop, mainly because of its portable song writing capability.

I would like a desktop for games tho.. I'll have both one day.

They're far too different to pick just one. Laptops that you can use for gaming are so ridiculously expensive, and even the best ones can be matched by a much cheaper desktop. On the other hand, you can't really sit a laptop on your lap in class or on the train like you can a laptop. They're good for very different things; not really a good versus situation.

I've only ever had a desktop computer. I like it, but I wouldn't mind having a laptop to take out with me, especially if I'm travelling.

So.. I don't know. I like my desktop computer, but I really like the idea of having a laptop handy. o.o

If you could buy a laptop or a desktop (not both), which would you buy? Assume these are the average models for both.

Lappy for sure. I'm on mine right now. The fact it's portable (and I can sit on the couch whilst browsing the internet) more than makes up for the lower hardware specs.

Very well, I suppose I shall play by your rules; it is your thread. If I had to pick I would go laptop, just because I'm not a huge PC gamer and I take my laptop everywhere and use it for portability all the time.

I would use my desktop for games mostly
My laptop serves the same purpose but I would prefer it more just because I can lay down.

Don't worry...when you get out into the real world, you won't be saying that.

Cool, even poll. And I wholeheartedly agree. This is my position.

desktop because it's upgradeable and power. I know about 4 people who bought laptops for "portability" but they always sit at the same desk.

I prefer my desktop to a laptop. I'd rather just wait to get online rater than use a tiny keyboard with an annoying mouse.

I move and travel a lot, so I'm very glad I have a laptop. When my desktop finally reaches where I've moved to, though, mmmmmmmm powerrrrrrrr.

As much as I love playing Neverwinter Nights and Diablo 2 on my laptop... I'd rather have my desktop. I had to use only laptop for about 2 weeks (my Samsung 22" broke down and I didn't have my old monitor yet) and it was horrible. I know, it's been 3 years and I just MUST update RAM...

But I can't play anything less than 3 years older. And even then I'm not sure.
