Well, they put the fallen survivor back in, which I am very happy they did.
The level has a horror feel to it like the first game, but still on the better game that is the second.
And it had some nice easter eggs.

I loved it, I just wish they didn't kill who they killed.
He was one of the reasons I was excited about the passing.

I'm rather disappointed, actually. I was hoping for more original survivor involvement, the campaign is difficult to say the least by yourself and it just felt like it was lacking the excitement that it had built up pre-release.

I did like the music in it though.

For those of you who don't know, the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC campaign, The Passing, has been released on Xbox Live and Steam. The major question I pose to you, my fellow Escapists is this: What did you think of it after playing? Was it what you expected? Did the one who didn't make it surprise you? Are you rabid as hell for the prequel campaign Valve promised us for the 1st Left 4 Dead? Feelings and comments please.
It was alright. Definitely could have been better though. The whole campaign felt far too short, the original survivors could have been replaced by zombies and it would have made no difference, and the final bit was a straight copy-paste of the end of the first campaign.

With only 3 actual levels, one of which is one of those really dumb "run around and get all the gas cans before you get swamped" things, it just wasn't long enough to justify paying for. I play on the PC, so that neatly sidestepped that problem, but I just wouldn't be able to justify paying anything for it.

The thing that really disappointed me about it though, was the complete lack of involvement with the original survivors. They were quite helpful for that end bit (especially against the 8 tanks that spawned for me doing that -_-) but I was expecting/hoping we'd actually interact with them. Maybe race them through the final level of the campaign or something, I don't know. It was just... anticlimactic, for lack of a better word, for them to just stand on top of a balcony and rain pipe bombs and bullets down on the zombies.

Edit:
The Keith story about making sushi out of raw chicken is hilarious. I got it to go off during the final gas-can-relay thing so I couldn't listen to all of it, but the bits I heard were hysterical.

I had no dialogue whatsoever on my playthrough.. the other L4D1 survivors just watched me silently.

Was all kinds of creepy.

I like the mutation idea, thats about it , the campaign is a tad too short for Vs mode and the last level is just.... lame.

I like how you use the phrase "the selling point" when everything Valve does for their games i free. And I like how most people bash on their DLC's, mind you the FREE DLC's, when they could have just NOT made them and still earned the same amount of money. This is not just L4D2, goes for TF2 too. They make you free stuff you don't have to play, and you still complain. Amazing really.

True, but not entirely.

The Passing costs money, but only for those who play it on the Xbox360, PC players get it for free, this is because Microsoft are a bunch of money hungry cock-bags. Meaning that VALVE does indeed have to advertise a little bit. To be honest though, you cannot say that their DLC content isn't far weaker than the original game, but I suppose that can be said about most companies and their DLC, some companies just feel that since it's DLC that it's not really worth putting their full effort into.

I'm a person who owns L4D on the XBox360 and L4D2 on the PC and it's value that nags at ones mind, not the cost. As an Australian I payed between $12-$14 for the low quality Crash Course, needless to say, I wasn't impressed (Australian and US dollars are the same basically, Australia is currently sitting on $0.90 to each American dollar, often getting back up to the dollar mark and then shuffling around, often going back down to its standard level of $0.90), and with The Passing being hyped out the ass a lot of XBox360 players will be disappointed, but I'll admit the quality is better than CC. I'll also have to pay to receive the L4D version of the passing (in other words, the first half of the passing's story line, the part with the survivors that are awesome and the death of our beloved Bill (and also the ability for players to choose who they kill, because Bill is too awesome to actually lose).

So yes, I am forced to pay for VALVES work, and I ask that it be quality, though it's Microsoft who charges (most likely because VALVE charges Microsoft for use and sale of the L4D franchise) for the DLC it is still VALVE who are advertising for it and making it sound like the greatest thing EVAR!

So please, think about the issue from ALL THE ANGLES, and not just the angle of a PC player.

I was more pissed off that they didn't explain what happened. Just that three survivors are just... there, and we cross paths, and then we don't stick together. There is no rhyme or reason to it. 7 is better than 4.

Ok, re: the fallen survivor uncommon infected - what do they actually do? On my way through I've only found one, and he was crouching facing away from all of us, staring at a wall, emptied a clip into his back. No reaction, apart from falling over dead.

I take it they're NOT supposed to do that.

I wasn't going to buy it unless it was free, so I checked a spoiler tag to see who died.

SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT! I hate it. Raquiescat in pace, best damn character to ever grace a zombie game.

I'm not going to lie, I was saddened greatly when I saw who died..I just stood over the corpse for awhile. Favorite character dies....again. I can always go back and play him again but I know his true fate. They better damn well make his death epic in the l4d1 dlc or im going to be very pissed. Also what kind of idiots would leave three immune survivors in that psychotic mess? If I saw 3 other immune people and one of them was Zoey I wouldn't leave. Then again I'm sane so... I know its a video game and I'm reading into it to much but I'm just having fun here.
