I just compared this after watching the trailer to the crazies. I would rather watch this movie instead.

OK...

Angels being the bad guys sounds pretty cool, but making God the bad guy just sounds stupid.

It doesn't matter if you believe in God or not for this work of fiction, that wont come into play for this movie so don't any of you dare try and turn this into a religious argument.

In the christian religion, God is all powerful and all knowing, so If he wanted to destroy us, he could just snap his fingers and all of us would be dead, and if he knew he was going to hate what we have become he wouldn't have made the earth in the first place.

I would be kinder to the trailer if instead of God being the bad guy, maybe it was a arch angel instead, and it could have been like a second rebellion, now that would be cool.

Im not sure if anyone can make God into a bad guy, and it seem credible.
What if I turn the Prophet Buddha into a rapist, and murderer with Buddhism being a secret cult that follows his evil ways?
Sure It would be just as ballsy as their story, and It could be written by the best, but it would never fly.

Still I have to give them credit for trying, because I already know controversy is going to follow this movie like the plague (all 10 of em) and they had to already know that people would get pissed off by it.

so what do y'all think?

PS
No flaming, K!
Why do all the angels look evil? wouldn't be more creepy if they looked majestic while murdering people.
Why do angels need guns when they have swords of holy might?
Why is it so funny to her that she doesn't own a car, what does that have to do with anything!?
Did anyone else laugh at spider granny?
On some level, Philip Pullman did it, and that worked fucking brilliantly..

It will be terrible, bad enough where I want to see it. The violence seems quite tame compared with some of the old testament douchebaggery you read about.

I saw the poster of the angel with the MP5 and just said 'nope, fuck that'

Rarely has that happened.
Yeah, usually something like that would spark some curiosity in me but not this time. I'l wait until it's on HBO or iTunes.

Haha. hhaa haa haaa... Boy, you're funny. The CG in that movie looks horrible. It looked too fake for me several months ago, when I first trailer during District 9. The movie looks just plain bad and it seems like an overdone concept somehow...

It doesn't look interesting to me at all. And how God can ever be considered the bad guy? Oh ho ho... Well, simply put, 'bad' and 'good' can only be defined in conjunction to either word. You cannot define 'good' without also defining 'bad', as they both relate heavily towards each other. To put that in perspective, we all consider Hitler to be 'bad' because he killed lots of people and wanted to take over the world by force. Hitler saw himself to be 'good' because he wanted to unify the world into a single, perfect race, which would end racism and many other problems we face today. God can be seen as Evil using the exact transparency of the definitions of 'good' and 'bad'.

well, to me it seems like a nice way to waste about 90 minutes.....then again, i love religion based movies. From Dogma to the Prophecy, i like a bit of christian religion tossed in ;-)
Although i like it better if moviemaker bother to do a little "fact" checking for their scripts.

As to the angels wiping out humanity? Maybe the angels are only wiping out non-believers, maybe THIS is the apocalype and whomever wrote that chapter of the bible just got it wrong hehe ;-)

Also, if the whole thing is based off the old testament, there is no satan and God is both good AND evil in one.........

I think it will be so bad that it will be mediocre at best. I love cheesy movies.
This movie looks like it could be awesomely fun just through sheer force of will. Angels with machine guns is inherently kick-ass, I am determined to enjoy this film. It could be terrible. The script could be garbage and the action sucky (although Bettany has an amazing voice) and I will love this film. I will force myself if I have to, but I WILL enjoy this.

Oh but I quite like that road of thinking...

Regardless, the movie looks horrible. If 'God' wanted us dead, we'd be dead. He doesn't have to make an action flick to kill us all. I also love how the transformation from human to angel makes your head spazz out to the neck-breaking point and makes all your teeth shark-tooth-pointy.

This is just one of those movies where the story is gonna be shit, so it's all a set-up for shoot-em-up scenes, explosions, and demonic old ladies. Move along, now. Nothing to see here.
